EXO videos and site looks good to, especially their Grand Canyon, Lake Powell Utah trip. I defiantly want to do that one.

Personally I would be to worried about going to Baja unless it was with a big group as the cartels are to dangerous and running a truck like a Raptor down there you would have a target on your back. Safety in numbers

I'm not too sure the cartels are as bad on the peninsula are they? I've heard of a lot of 2 - 3 truck excursions that go on down there without issues......

Pancho! I got lucky this past May to get to go to Baja with @treypal and #TRRBRR16 Amazing! Felt fairly safe other than the Mexichex . But just say NO. Or not. YOLO!

Here is the video from our trip. Not a full scale production, but I'm pretty proud of what we did with limited resources.

Cool video, looks like a lot of fun. Do you guys spend much time at any beaches? I didn't see any real scenic locations in the video.

I sure wish someone would put together an event in Arizona like you guys do in Texas

Tijuana is the worst and LaPaz had a big surge of cartel violence summer 2015. Here is a good article on it. Mexico Travel Warning in Perspective | BajaInsider.com

Although here is a more recent article saying the cartel took down a police convoy and killed 15 police officers. Violence doubled in 2016 in the Tijuana area and appears turf wars are raging again for drug routes into the US. http://www.insightcrime.org/news-br...or drug traffickers control routes to the US.

I spent 7 months in Puerto Pensasco Mexico along the sea of cortez in 2013 and I have several friends that still live there. The cartels leave the tourist alone in this area because they want the tourist buying their drugs. Hopefully they take the same approach in the Baja area, but it's a different cartel their.

A 2 or 3 truck excursion always has more risk, especially since we can't arm and protect ourselves but those cartels have plenty of fire power. In a big group I would feel much safer. Those beaches along the peninsula are so beautiful but are they worth that risk?

I also went in May with TRR and to date it was the best vacation trip I have ever been on and I go on a vacation or two a year and rarely to the same place but always in the USA. The majority of the time I felt safe and some motels had a place where we were able to park our trucks in a locked gated area with staff on guard throughout the night. We didn't go to the beaches like you see in the Trail of Missions, it was more so on the trails and we had two days to relax in Loreta. We spent some time on the beach there but it was small.

It was a tad unnerving when we had to go through military check points as I have never been anywhere to see that and more so when stopped out in the desert but there was never an issue.

I enjoyed it so much that I feel privileged that I was invited to go back with a small private Baja run to Cabo this coming January. Its a 24hr drive from my house to the Tecate border but is so much worth it and I cannot wait. This group will probably be half the size of when I went last time from what I understand. It didn't take long for me to find a co-pilot here on FRF with a few PM's.

I think mainland Mexico is dangerous and why you don't see much offroad trips down that part.

Sounds like you had a awesome time. TIP: The military at the check points love the 5 hour energy drinks. They pretty much appreciate any snacks or drinks you give them. I always keep extra goodies in my coolers just for them when traveling through the desert roads as near Mexicali there used to be a lot of check points.

Yeah, I really don't drink those but I cannot count on my fingers how many times I was asked if we had Monsters during those checkpoints. Just had water and Gatorade.

One checkpoint they asked me to get out and told my wife to stay in the truck. They started going through my center console and asked if they could have the flashlight (wife told them, No), then they asked for my GoPro (wife told them, No), then asked for my Swiss Army pocket knife (wife told them, No) and then got into the cooler and asked for a Gatorade (wife told them, NO, NO, NO). Needless to say I had no idea what was going on in the truck until I got back in and my wife told me what happened. They didn't argue with her and let us go on our way. LOL.
