So the Raptor is my 1st truck ever. I have always been a car guy. My last few cras have been...

2000 Audi A6 2.7t 6 speed
2007 Volvo S60r 6 speed
2013 Taurus SHO
2015 Mustang GT 6 speed
2015 Audi SQ5

Wife drives 2018 Explorer Sport

When I bought the truck a month ago, I had watched a bunch of video, read as much as I could, and decided the tech and performance level of this truck is high enough to finally let me get a truck, and not feel like I was in some old farm truck.

Over the course of a month, i have added a stubby antenna, tri fold hard bed cover, Diode Dynamics driving lights.

I daily drive the truck, and it just now feels natural to me. I am over the size and have a good feel for it in traffic.

Took the family (4 of us) on an 800 mile round trip for thanks giving. 300 miles with the cruise at 81 mph each way and got 16mpg. about what I expected. The bed was loaded with luggage and a table on the way home.

The drive home last night had a 40 mph cross wind with snow and sleet and the truck drove like a champ.

I am the guy who may never take his raptor off paved roads. Can't deal with scratches and the like. but it is nice to know that when the zombie apocalypse comes, or worse.... i will not be held back by lack of transportation.

My only negatives for the truck are i wish sport mode had an option to have the transmission act like normal. There are times when I dont want it to hold gears so long. That is the only thing I can find that i dont like after 1 month and 2,000 miles.

You really should find some wide open places (which do exist) to fly down. If you enjoy the truck now, it really comes into its own on 'roads' most vehicles would struggle to traverse.

In Sport mode, there is a threshold % on throttle pedal position before it triggers the hold logic. I think it is around 70%. Anyway, less than that and you still accelerate as you would past 70%, but you don't get the long gear holding. Makes the mode a lot more driveable outside of racing.
