I recently received my TMX Front Skidplate, and wanted to share my thoughts and observations.
First, I expected an odd shaped heavy piece like this to have destroyed the box in transit. It didn't, the plate was stretch-wrapped with cardboard on the corners, then placed inside of a heavy box to protect the whole deal. There wasn't a scratch on it. I didn't take a picture of the box though.
Build quality is very good. Clean welds, a great powdercoat job, everything about it looked good. If this is representative of the quality that TMX is going to put into all their products, than I am excited!
The install was super straight forward. Remove the 6 bolts (5 if you're me and lost a clip nut at some point). Hold the new skidplate up with your knees while struggling to get bolts started (Note, Get help from a friend!). Get everything tightened back up, and you're done!
If I were to have one complaint, it would be that stickers don't stick to the powdercoat!!! How am I supposed to represent!??!!!
Me Removing my old plate. Notice the safety shoes, and socket head bolts since the stock bolts were smashed long ago.
Comparison of the two plates. You can see the reinforcement on the TMX plate, and you can see how easy it is to access the filter.
The installed plate, it tucks up much farther than the stock plate. I expect much less bottoming out. I plan on testing this weekend at the EDR race in Odessa.
