That’s a good thing, right?

Former, no.
Wouldn't you want no resistance to a rolling start?

Latter, yes.

How could it NOT BE a good thing to feel like your balls were just lubed??!! :batman2:

Hahaha

Im curious how the STT Pros handle in the rain. I like the aggressive looks but here in WA we get a lot of the liquid sunshine.

Don't know and probably won't know till 11 months from now. It seldom rains.

Holy crap 52lbs is way too high for my liking.

Of pressure?
Curious to know why?

Max psi at max load is 65.
52 seems about ok?
That's 80% of maximum.

What do you suggest

...The pro of having an E load index (versus c on stock) is that there'll be less stress on suspension when I tow my yamaha yxz 1000r. I guess?

Because the tires will now bear more of the weight?

Uhm, not quite correct. The static weight load on the tire vs suspension is the same no matter what tire. The stiffer tire will in fact put MORE dynamic load into the suspension because the carcass is stiffer, it doesn’t give or absorb the load, it passes it right into the suspension which beats it worse.

So today I reduced pressure from 50 (was 50, not 52) to 40.

I also emailed cooper this morning (it's past 11 pm now). I explained stock tires, manufacturer recommendation, and that I purchased stt pro tires.

Their response:

You can use the 38-40 psi range for this STT Pro. That gives you the same carrying capacity in the STT line as in the BF line of tire. Yes our tire is a 10 ply but max air is the 65 psi cold, classified as a floatation size.

They're absorbing irregularities a bit more than 50.
I didn't find 50 harsh at all to be honest and could've kept them at 50.
Some background: I drove about 150,000 miles in the past decade on firm-suspension cars. I'm not adverse to firm suspension.

Thank you.

Yes, very happy.

I actually thought they'd be more aggressive-looking in person.

I think because the side wall tread isn't as aggressive as other tires.

I'll have more feedback over the coming days as I use them on my regular drives.
Still enjoying those Coopers or do you wish you went with something else? I know you mentioned that they aren’t as aggressive as you initially thought...

Hi Phil

Yeah they don't look as aggressive as they did online - to me

But I'm still very happy

I've reduced pressure to 42 and it feels much better now - at no impact to handling

As assumed, noise has gone down now significantly (after approx 500km of usage)
But there is still a little bit of whirring
I've already cognitively drowned it out now
Plus I usually have music or a podcast on while driving

Also took it out to the desert for some Baja style riding

Love it

I found that it scoops itself out much more than the ko²
But that's obvious I guess because of the mini paddles on each side

Feather the throttle from a full stop in sugar sand to steadfastly get going

I noticed that thing the past few days

Tire sound is amplified when making turns with spirited driving

Have you noticed any instability at high speeds on the road when changing lanes or anything from those tires? The KM3’s I had on my Tacoma last year felt like that at higher speeds at times.

Also, how are they at high speeds, switching lanes etc?

Switching lanes is crisp
Moreso than the stock
But to be fair, I'm comparing the stock at 28k usage to brand new tires
But still, I feel the stt pro are crisper than a fresh pair of stocks

_____
Unrelated addendum:
To those maybe saying that I'm going through buyer's-remorse and I'm painting myself a guilded picture:

Nah, I was and still am actually prepared to jettison these tires and put on a geolandar or at3 xlt oif I disliked them at first or down the road (pun intended)

I'm fortunate enough to be able to say life's too short to be riding the wrong person, err I mean tires.
Plus, I put on about 24,000 miles to 28,000 miles a year
I'll simply replace them with one of the above and just sell them to recoup some
________

The speed limit here is mostly 87 mph and a few highways are a 100 mph

So far it's more stable/planted on cruise control at 87 mph than the ko²
But I knew from just looking at the center lateral design

I've hit 130 mph very briefly on a private road
But not enough to determine an opinion
Yes, I know maximum speed is 100 mph
