So you got no oil all over your skid plates?
It wasn't hard, just messy.

Got some on the skid plate to the rear of the oil pan. Was able to reach in with shop towels to wipe it for the most part though. I was expecting it to be much worse. The filter was a piece of cake, and didn’t drip on the skid plate at all.

Ford calls for their semi synthetic blend at approaching 10K intervals based on the oil monitor. Ford has likely millions of ecoboost engines in circulation that hopefully get at least the bare minimum of routine maintenance without issues. I have seen plenty of gunked up motors being disassembled by the techs at the dealer where the owner hadn’t changed the oil in 18K miles or more. The techs tell me that changing the oil more frequently is better for the ecoboost.

Personally I don’t think 10K with blend is sufficient, but I also think 5K intervals on full synthetic are overkill. I’m buying the premium maintenance plan mainly for coverage on wearing out the shocks and other components, the 5K synthetic blend option buys additional (sooner) coverage on other items, otherwise I would go 7500 miles on full synthetic for the $25 price difference. I could go full synthetic every 5K for $625 more, but my service manager at a large Ford store told me to save my money as it would be overkill. I was going to do the first oil change at 2500 miles then do UOA on my second oil change and see how things are looking after 5K one blend and reevaluate. I think I can tweak my maintenance plan within the first year.

I follow the manufacturer recommended 10K full synthetic interval on my VW TDI vehicles without a care in the world. They have to warranty the engine on my Passat to 162K miles, if those intervals were insufficient on a turbo diesel I’m sure they would be recommending something else.

I’ve always used Amsoil, primarily because of past Blackstone results in prior cars. Haven’t done a Blackstone analysis in years, but Amsoil has never let me down.

Plenty of good oils out there, go with one you trust. Manufacturers’ recommended (Motorcraft) is a good choice too, but I agree with others about not going as long as they claim you can go.

Check it frequently and you’ll be able to see its progression from golden brown to dark brown to black. (I get it out of the engine before it gets black, usually in the 5-7k range) maybe a little early but better safe than sorry.

Just did my first oil change at 4500 miles with Mobil-1 with OEM filter. Was just as easy of an oil change as any other cars and trucks I’ve owned, not sure why so many guys say it’s a PITA on a Raptor.

Exactly! It is an easy oil change. Now my wife's 4Runner and my son's Tundra are a different story. Total PITA!

I use Blackstone labs. Amsoil does it also. Might be more that I’m unaware of.

Was getting ready to send my first 5k sample to Blackstone. I can only imagine the same type of analysis is provided by Amsoil?

Interesting how things change. Back when I drove Toys, 1985-1998, I thought that they were easy to service. The '85 in particular was thoughtfully laid out, the '91 was fine.
