I was on my way to a party, the truck was fine. Then about 3 miles from my house the transmission started feeling really weird. We got on the freeway and the shift pattern was very strange. I have been driving really hard the past few days and shifting myself. I thought the computer might be adapting to that. It felt like the clutch was fully disengaged and it had a ton of power all through the gears!
I got to a stop light and the truck starting idling really rough, chugging, and surging forward like the clutch wasn't engaging! Almost stalling the truck. I turned around and went home. Once you were moving the engine was fine, the trans had that awesome feel of power but shifted very strange. No lights on the dash yet.
I got home and hardly was able to pull it in the shop. The truck could hardly keep its self running in neutral. I popped the hood, everything looked fine. Nothing blown. My girlfriend looked and saw the intake tube separated from the box by the sensor. We put it back together, the truck started right up like normal. We went down the street and it drove perfect.
All I could gather was it was sucking in enough air through the sensor to keep it from throwing up a wrench, but not enough to keep the engine running smooth. And with the way the truck sensors work, it was causing the trans to act up really bad.
