I used 6x cans of AMSOIL HDMP on the underside of my truck during winter prep. I do a lot of driving through the mountains. I'm lucky that they don't use salt or chemicals here but still wanted to help with keeping the underside of the truck rust free. After 5 months of winter driving i can say it holds up perfect, even after pressure washing, i still have a decent film over everything. The only downside is if your trying to work under the truck that stuff is EVERYWHERE and it will be all over your clothes if you brush up against it.

Bought the truck with 10 miles on it from new inside 6 months of it's conception and lots of surface rust.

Before the first winter, I sanded and painted rust - on a bone dry truck, then painted the parts that get gravel rash with a few light coats of undercoat. Once bone dry, then sprayed it all with an anti-corrosion (cosmoline based) that is fine for plastic, aluminum, rubber, wiring, etc. The stuff smells while it cures for the first couple of days. Hopefully a deterrent to pests chewing on wire/plastics. So far, so good, but who knows if it helps.

I've done some touchups here and there, but it is all wearing really well. No goopy undercoating that traps water or anything like that. The areas I undercoated are basically directly behind the front and rear tires. Everywhere you typically get rock rash. And it helps provide more protection from the sandblasting and rock dings. Mostly taking rust down to metal, spraying a couple of coats of rust paint, cure, then the anti-corrosion seems to be a great combo. I don't stress about it, but as I am under there checking things out, I just keep up with it.

Amsoil HDMP is what I use as well, someone did a pretty extensive comparison on here at some point for corrosion in FL weather and, “it won” it refuses to be washed off, I used pressure washer and scrubbed for a number of hours prior to reapplication and I don’t think I got much off. I was just trying to get the dirt mostly off before reapplication this fall. Either way I sprayed it again. It works well for sure.

When I was rebuilding shocks on my snowmobile I did find that carb cleaner does take it off easily. Aside from that it doesn’t come off, which is exactly what I wanted. Does have a bit of a yellow color, which is better than rust.

I don’t plan on selling, ever.

We use ACF-50 (Anti Corrosion Formula-50) exclusively on our airplanes. We fog inside the wings and fuselage structure at every annual inspection. It is totally FAA approved since we operate to commercial standards. Application goes over the wiring and everything. Some of the planes are 40 years old and are based on the west coast getting constant ocean air. Inside the wings etc the aluminum and steel fittings look new. Our chief of maintenance with 20 years experience will use nothing else. The Porsche, Ferrari and motorcycle guys are raving about the stuff on their forums. But, I've never seen anything on this forum. We have flogged some trucks under the hood and whole chassis with great short term success. But, no long term truck results. Anybody else tried it?
I have used this stuff in the past on our Subaru's but it was a bottle and brush application. Part of the reason I made the jump to Fluidfilm and now WoolWax with a compressor and sprayer. How do you apply the ACF-50 on your aircraft???

Have you used the surface shield??? I currently use Fluidfilm for the cavities and Woolwax for everything else and am satisfied with the protection. Will pick up a gallon of this stuff and try it out when I run out of both FF and WW.
I did this year before the first salt hit the road... will have to see how it holds up. Have to say the spray cans were hit and miss, had to cycle through (return and replace at Home Depot) when a couple didn't want to spray. They claim 2 seasons and then reapply. I just power washed the bottom yesterday after going through snow squalls (AKA salt layer on the truck) so next "warmer" day Ill get on my back and take a good look at how well it stayed. I also used this on all the cavities I could find.

POR-15 is good stuff. If you took the time to do the surface prep and applied the POR-15 according to the directions, that stuff will outlast the truck. Probably looks great too.

Source: I did my lifted 2016 Jeep Rubicon's undercarriage with POR-15.
