I am new here, and excited to order my Raptor! I have wanted one for years, but never did it....Well that will change soon when the order banks open! And I am old enough to have witnessed those commercials about the rich Corinthian leather...
Welcome to the place. You can introduce yourself in the New Member area if you want to, just start your own thread, tell us what kind of Raptor you are looking to get.

More offroad capable, that's what the R probably stands for RACE Ready!
See I disagree and that is what I am waiting to hear more about. With the R aimed at the TRX we all know the current Raptor is a better off road truck due to the TRX motor being to much for the suspension and weight of the truck.

where it shines is on the pavement because of its HP so Ford aiming to “ take back the crown “ really just means more HP and faster than a TRX on pavement..... obviously this is just my opinion but if you look at it from that perspective that is The only logical conclusion.

The Raptor R will be a rebirthed Ford lighting in a off roading disguise. Not that that’s totally a bad thing because from the sound of it that’s what a lot of people one just a drunk it’s fast on pavement and I really don’t care about the off-road capabilities they just care about having a 700+ HP blown V8

I think the R will bring a minimum of 14” of travel in the front and 15” of travel in the rear with 37s being the only tire size available. Shocks will either be slightly bigger and/or the fronts will have remote reservoirs too, not just the rears. I also think it’s track width and overall width will be a bit wider, half an inch to and inch. It will have a blown V8. Most importantly, it won’t be as heavy as the TRX (but obviously heavier than the standard raptor) and its power will be better matched to its suspension. Bottom line, it’ll have the most power, most tire with the most suspension - travel and shocks and ultimately be the fastest high speed off road truck you can buy. Shame that most won’t even see a forest service road.

Or more capable of outrunning the suspension. Time will tell. Hopefully Ford does a mid-travel on the R. That would be something to write home about.
I'm along this line of thought with you but I feel most ppl just want a high hp pavement princess.

I would love the raptor R to be what they did with the special limited edition ( please forgive me I can't remember the name ) was. In fact for 100k I wish Ford would do what they did with the cobrajet in 2012 and make the R raptor not street legal and make it as close to a trophy truck as possible with that budget in mind.

600hp with 16+ inches of suspension travel, tire rack with two spares, 37in or larger tires and a fuel cell.

Why hold back if you truly want to be the king of off roading? The standard raptor is a big enough cash cow to make this R version a true off road monster .

I think you are exactly right and was really what Ford wanted to do. However, when the botched introduction came out a few weeks ago, the "not street legal" comment really caused a huge stir. People really wanted a street legal, V8 truck. Ford walked that comment back, so now we will all see what that product truly becomes. I am not holding my breath.
