The iTSX app is pretty limited what it can do. Even some custom tune changes are not there as compared to the X4 unit. There is a bug in the app on vehicle weight were you cannot change it so the performance test is a waste. They know of the bug but for some reason are neglecting to fix it.

I have no issues with tunes and settings with the iTSX and Android. Might be an Apple thing.
As far as the vehicle weight, It let me set mine. But I do not use those tools so would not bather me either way.

Is it possible to use a OBDLink MX, or similar device, with the SCT iTSX app to load tunes or do you have to purchase the iTSX OBD interface for the app to work?

After spending some seat time with both tunes, what are your thoughts about them?

Have not yet had a chance to do any real highway driving with the SVC tune yet.
Around the city I have to say I do like the SVC better than the 5* performance and eco tunes when it comes to shifting and power band.

The 5* Performance is great when I am romping on the truck, love how it holds the low gear and keeps it in the power, and the 5* eco tune well shifts pretty much as soon as it can to the higher gears so if I want to drive like grandpa then it would be perfect.

The SVC still has the punch but more civilized in delivery then the performance tune. It holds gears long enough that I do not need to stomp the gas to accelerate or pass, but does shift sooner than the performance to higher gears. I found myself having to go WOT with the Eco tune to be able to pass someone. And while I do love the sound of my Truck WOT it does not help MPG.

These are all with 93 as I have not seen the need to go back down to 87 at this point. Depending on the difference in 93 and 87 when I drive up to snowball I might drop back down for the road trip but for now its all 93.

I'll report back once I get some highway miles.

Bug for weight is only on an Apple device. I should have made that clear. I do not know if more of the tune is open for custom changes on an iOS or Android device, I just have an iPhone so I cannot compare.

I just recently went to the tune from a 5* and this analysis is spot on. I liked my 5* but I love the tune.

I had an interesting thought come up tonight while the truck was in for service... I was only getting headlights replaced under warranty, but I was curious if the dealer would re flash the ecu while they had it. I know the dealer will use warranty visits to push ford program updates, but not sure if they re flashed my truck tonight. It was hard to tell in driving since I am on 87 octane winter gas.
So.... To make myself feel better, could I just plug the handheld in, revert back to 'stock' and then re-update back to the SVC tune I have? I questioned the process because I don't know how the handheld pulls and installs tunes. Any ideas?

I always put the truck back to stock tune when going to the dealer no matter if its just an oil change.

My tuner when you do the first tune, is it backs up the stock tune then applies the aftermarket tune. When you go back to stock it reloads the backed up tune. When you reapply the aftermarket tune again, it goes through the same back up process again.

So changing between aftermarket tunes is quicker (have done them when filling up with gas) but coming from stock will usually be twice as long since the back up takes as long as putting in a tune.

This is on a iTSX tuner, not sure on others

RDFTS,

Since it's kind of on topic with your last post...how long does it take to load a tune or revert back to stock?

I am planning of the SVC Tune when I get home...just wondering how long of a process it is?

Thanks.

If the dealer updates it when you have a tune loaded you might not be able to return to stock without SCT's help as the can update the code and then the SCT device will not match and that will cause it to error when you try to flash it. They sell ODBII covers that say do not flash. Or if you have the iTSX it stays plugged in so they would have to remove it to flash it
