You are absolutely correct. I am/was an addicted lurker since before I got my truck, but never quite contributed as I don't have much to contribute for the American/Canadian truck owners out there. I live in a sandpit where aftermarket products for the Raptor are scarce and hell, I don't want to get aftermarket engine and suspension upgrades and void my warranty.

And you are also correct that I'm openly voicing my opinion that the new Raptor lacks a real upgrade in the engine department. It's a downgrade - pure and simple. The same way I believe I4s in the new Boxsters and Caymans are a downgrade, and I won't ever be buying one again. I don't go on their forum and bash that vehicle as I don't own one anymore and haven't since before the I4 came out. Regardless, I'm more fond of this truck as it's just a feel-good vehicle. No other vehicle puts a bigger smile on my face daily. So I'm really disappointed that Ford went the V6 route.

About just buying the Jenny so I have them both? Well, I've also mentioned earlier that having both (in stock form) is pretty pointless. And I have no plans on engine and suspension upgrades, voiding 3 years out of my 5-year warranty, so I'll be getting the Jenny only after I sell my current Raptor. And that's only if a V8 Jenny is offered. Like many other FRF members, I work hard for my money and I'm not going to throw some at an inferior Raptor.

Since you have so much time, you can even read all my posts where I've repeatedly said good things about the Jenny. However, I'm not a Ford fanboy like Bullishone that I'm going to eat up everything that they market and call it all an upgrade. And here's hoping a Ford employee or two actually visit this site and take notes. They'll realize LOTS of Gen1 (and some Gen2) Raptor owners want a V8. And maybe give us the option. Then all this bitching will have been successful and I'll finally go get a new Jenny (even though I'm against the aluminum body and 10-speed).

Also since you've gone through my post history, you may notice that only do I contribute with my 'forum noise' when Jenny owners start tooting their own horn.

And as usual, Bullishone has nothing intellectual to contribute. At least attempt to counter my points.

1. Aluminum body is a farce. It has no place in an off-road truck. Go on the Facebook FRF and you'll see many a Jenny / new F-150s with holes in their military grade aluminum body.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/joannm...fords-aluminum-f-150-pickup-bed/#48fcfbcf6867

No, I'm not going to drop cinder blocks in my Raptor, but I also don't want tree branches to poke holes in my doors and cut my legs up. The new frame may be stronger (hence the better NHTSA ratings) but the aluminum body is a POS in a truck of this caliber.

2. A 10-speed. Another big mistake? You'd think 2 overdrive gears are enough and more durable? Just because Ford developed a 10-speed for their mass production use doesn't mean that it's the best suited transmission for a Raptor.

3. Nothing more needs to be said of the Eco-shit. People seem to forget that they're buying a massive truck - not a 3000lbs Porsche. A V6 is right in place for a little Porsche, or a minivan. Or an Accord. But not a massive off-road truck.

Come on lad, at least try to counter these.

Maybe Bullishone thinks that you’re trying to engage in a debate. As you’ve made clear, you can never be convinced the new model is worth anything to you, but to me the bigger question is, who is it you are trying to convince of your narrative and your underpinning reasons?
You?
Everyone else?
or you and everyone else?

because the lengths to which you, sasquatch77 and one or two other partisans goes beyond rational debate, and into the territory of evincing insecurity in your actual position. And some of the gen2 owners do the same.

You misstated Bullishone here:

he said: “.... Aluminium is lighter, thereby allowing the truck to be more nimble and faster. It's also a longer lasting material. It's steel underbody is stronger and that's why it's safer. Aluminium is the future, others will follow and Ford will lead.”

You countered with:
Aluminum is LIGHTER, but NOT stronger than steel.

He never said AL was stronger. and then we continue on typing past one another. But again, you’re dragging discussion down to denigrating, baiting and insulting.

“How exactly does 10 speeds help you off-road?”
- they don’t, but the new transmission itself does. First, the truck won’t let you upshift to some insanely low rpms in any of the off road ‘modes’ or even sport.

You might not be concerned about miles per gallon, as is typical of non-Americans with the sole exception of Russians. People from regions of the world, even after visiting other places in the world simply lack the understanding of the scale of travel in the USA. Texas, for example is almost 800 miles across and almost 800 miles from the bottom to the top; and it’s just one state. We might have to drive 6 to 8 hours to a destination, so yes, economy is a concern to citizens of countries with vast distances to cover. There are no deserts on the US east coast, and limited beach sand that can be driven or ridden.

Serious question - have you even driven a 2017 off road or ridden with someone in a 2017?

You want Ford to take comments from end users seriously?

Put some cogent, constructive criticisms together and mail it off to them. But anyone from Ford reading the vitriol of your end of the spectrum on FRF would dismiss the comments outright. Some of the criticisms lack objectivity, others are simply showing a preference and the vast majority of them show a lack of exposure and experience behind the wheel of the new Rap.

I’m not going to argue my point any more 'cause it seems like I'm 'talking' to a wall here

Ok then.

This thread turned into a TLDR slap fight between potatoes on both sides of the fence. Even got thin skinned people putting others on ignore lists. This is the type of shit that gets your 'Raptor Perks' Starbucks card revoked.

I picked my Gen 2 over a 40k mile '14 for $45K was because I don't know or want to learn the expensive way those 40k were driven. $15k more and I got a new truck with 11 miles, fantastic interest rate, etc. both gens are fantastic but my gut told me what to do.
