So vhf/uhf is pretty much line of site of your in mountains and elevation changes are getting in between you and the rest of the group more power isn't going to help you much. If it's tree coverage that's the problem then power will help you. It should be noted that if your using the MURS channels the power limit (legally) is 2w. Mirage makes some options but if your going this route I advise you to get your ham license and find a local club to give you pointers on setup and tuning. Another problem may be finding nmo antennas rated for that much power.
