According to the tutorial on antenna farm it's the right size.
Not really sure on the "tuning " part I assume it will work just fine but "tuning" makes it transmit better? Radio experts want to chime in here?

Yes you will get better signals if your antenna length is tuned to match the wave length of the frequency you are using.

I purchased a Scorpion Antenna a few years ago with the idea of mounting it to my truck, which I did not own yet.

Now that I have my Raptor, I was considering how I could mount it, (it is huge). I recently installed a RetraxPro MX cover which makes it more difficult to place. I'd rather not drill into my roof, and was thinking some type of hitch mount would be best.

Any ideas are welcome.

Hitch mount would place it too low, you really want it above the roofline but at 20lbs you want something solid to mount too. Maybe a roof rack of some form. Better not go anywhere with trees though that's an expensive antenna!

Which model do you have? Screwdriver antennas are tricky to mount.

I have the SA-680 and was considering the Breedlove, Scorpion super-duty foldover mount http://www.k0bg.com/images/antenna/breedlovefo.gif
Just not sure where to attach with the Retraxpro bed cover. Perhaps reinforcing the cannister.
