NO NO NO! Your dealer has no clue. Once your order gets pulled you can not change the options on that order.

You are somewhat on the right track. For example, you ordered beadlock wheels but Ford does not have beadlock wheels because their supplier is slow. This is called a material hold in that Ford can't build your truck without the beadlocks so your order will simply sit in the order bank. But let's say Ford all the sudden gets beadlocks in stock. At this point they could decide to pull all orders in the order bank that were waiting on beadlocks. I am sure there are a more variables in play that goes into whether or not your order gets pulled but simply put, your truck can't get built without the necessary materials.
Quick update on my "is it a new order or not" question:
According to the dealer, if the cab configuration is changed then the order goes to the back of the list. Any other change to the order (wheels, paint, interior, etc.) does not result in the order changing place in the list.
So...yeah, we'll see how this pans out. Apparently the dealer is stacking my order with two trucks so that "if I change my mind again" they don't have to change the order. Once the order is pulled, they will add all the options I didn't pick to whichever cab configuration I don't want.

No, I meant as far as the options you choose, ie exterior color, graphics packages, etc. Looks like it doesn't really matter but I thought it might. For instance if there is a supplier holdup on a particular paint.
