Damn, I love the way people on this forum work their way around to what the other guy started out saying, and then think they've won an argument.

So we're clear, we all agree now that the Raptor is neither a luxury car nor a sporty coupe?

Can we stop fantasizing about jealous BMW drivers then?
Yup, we can agree, the Raptor is neither luxury car, nor sporty coupe.

We will agree to disagree about bmw drivers fantasizing about having a Raptor instead. Most of them are only one step above prius drivers. You can deny all you want, but ask a few bikers. In fact, my other neighbor, once removed started a HD poll for worst BDCs - that’s ‘brain dead cager’. Cager is a pejorative, derogatory term bikers refer to car drivers for those wondering.

In order of response, the perceived worst drivers were ...
BMW
Lexus
minivan, regardless of make
prius
others.
BMW drivers won - well, lost actually, but a large margin.

This is repeated on various biker forums across the ’net, and isn’t news.

ok, that’s not jealousy, it’s just that the marque attracts poor drivers generally. Which is kind of a shame, because I remember the -shock- at how many M3’s were making damn good laps at my fist auto cross. Alas, the less than 1% of those enthusiasts do not overcome the masses of abysmally poorly skilled drivers piloting their cars. Yeah, i know, still not jealous, but I try not to miss getting a dig in on a brand whose engineers are entirely too impressed with their own abilities and the customer base they attract.

It pains me greatly to admit, but I will have to admit that the M5 that blew past us on the a-bahn at 125+ was one of the best sounding cars I’ve heard, even over the weeping, gasping Fiat Punto turbo diesel, which was good for 171 kmh if you’re ever stuck in one.

so yeah, my neighbor with the beemer envies my truck which is not a luxury sedan, or a sport coupe, yet is faster accelerating than his 3 series TT - proven, not suspected, has lots of comfort features and only more cheap plastic because it’s bigger and, the Raptor can hard mount a machine gun for use as a technical.

It’s like Clarkson said about the prius, really - bmws have no redeeming qualities.

ok, maybe that one M5 did.

but hey, we’re on a Raptor forum, so does it really matter what any of us says about bmws?

thats how i locked the wife down.

just chisslin a little away each day hahahahaha.

before we were dating, I spied my current co-worker and soon to be wife at an ATM, after she let a “friend” color her hair. I asked her what happened ‘your hair is 3 different colors now’

man, she was not amused 1 bit.

later on, she reluctantly admitted that the encounter convinced her I’d noticed her and she knew it.

Now I’d probably get fired even though it happened outside work, or she’d have firebombed me on social media. I’m glad we met a while back.

she’s a keeper, she didn’t just agree with the Raptor purchase, she helped.

So Cal
this.

The best mod is "driver mod".

And for the record, anything short of a 7 series or S class in bmw/benz terms feels cheaper than the fit/finish of the premium ford trims and certainly a step down from the lincoln trims.

Have you sat in an e class or 3 series lately? They suck.

I would have to disagree....... the E63S amg is one hell of an interior.

saying that any of the amg models are the same as a production line benz is like saying that a toyota is the same as a lexus.

That E63s is what, double a standard e class?

:specialed:

Well you said E-class and the E63 is still an "E" class. Even the E400 with designo interior, still an "E" class is way better than the raptors interior. So I'm still gonna have to disagree with you.

and the 802 raptor is double the price of the base 3 series :ROFLJest:

Seems like several in this thread have detailed opinions on vehicles they've never driven or even sat in, with very clear misconceptions about interior and ridiculous claims that a Raptor can outhandle sport sedans.

If you think a Raptor can outhandle luxury sport sedans and you justify that position by comparing the drivers and not what the actual vehicles are capable of, you're an idiot.

And yes, we know M5's can't haul shit in the bed and go off-roading too.

The same can be said for people claiming a car can't handle for shit when the real reason is they have no clue how to drive it. Most "driving enthusiasts" only know how to mash the gas pedal and have zero clue how to get performance out of a vehicle in a corner. That's why Ferrari and Porsche drivers are frequently humbled by lowly Miatas on track days. And I stand by my claim that I can beat almost every single BMW driver in the Raptor on a street course. And I'm not even that good when compared to truly talented drivers. That's just a testament to how bad most "driving enthusiasts" are. But sure, lets blame the tool and not the user. Protecting fragile egos is what this is all about anyway.

What BMW owners really should be saying is the Raptor's soft suspension makes them nervous in corners. Not that the Raptor has poor handling. Which it doesn't. People who know how to drive cars with softer suspensions don't get nervous driving the Raptor at speed. It's not the Raptor's fault most BMW owners don't know how to drive it.

But anyway, back to my original point that BMW went down the toilet with its focus group driven engineering still stands. Without strong visionary leadership, the Raptor risks suffering the same fate. Given how the BMW crowd loves to rag on the Raptor for its cheap interior and soft suspension. I suspect those will be the first things to get "upgraded" in the G3.

I have to ask, what exactly are you comparing the Raptor to when you praise it's canyon carving prowess? I'm genuinely curious. If you take your make believe "experienced driver" and put that same person in a Raptor and a 5 series (doesn't even have to be an M5) and they'll tell you there's no comparison just like you're being told here... So again, before you forget what are you comparing the Raptor to?

i compare the raptor to all the other trucks i ever ever driven.

not with mods mind you, oem. stock for stock its the best truck ive ever driven.
and ive driven a lot of ******* trucks.

offroad as an oem truck, my most favorite truck offroad as a stock vehicle.

thats it. thats all it is. its a truck with better suspension and a little body work and interior and electronic bits.

its just a truck, you guys are all stupid we all have the same ******* thing.

That’s well and good. But at some point the discussion went to sports sedan vs raptor handling when suddenly Jaz looked down, saw his ***** start shrinking and started to compare a professional driver to a grandmother and proclaimed Raptor the benchmark of the skid pad

He deflected the answer to your question. And then stated the standard E with Designo interior has better interior than the Raptor.

Yes! An AMG Benz is almost double in every model. Then you can jump from an AMG 63 to an AMG 65 and add even more to the price.
And, yes the Designo interior upgrade is double the cost of the regular interior for an E class, and class.

So, how do I know. I have an S550 Coupe in the garage with Designo leather.
