I am just as guilty as this as anyone, always make the vehicle as fast as possible, bigger tires, better lights, sound about right. I just find it funny when you check out the Porsche/Audi people the first thing they always upgrade is Brakes, then move on to the engine, makes sense if your gonna go faster you better be able to stop

So I started looking around for any Raptor Brake upgrades, and really couldn't find anything much out there. So I emailed Ryan at SDHQ, he is kinda my go to guy when I need something, they just came out with some new brake lines (they look like steel braided, with a coating) all my past cars/bikes I always replaced the POS stock lines with Steel braided lines and it always made a big difference. So I said what the heck I will give them a chance.

Well they came in, and first look I was impressed, they looked like steel braiding with some type of coating on them(the only other lines I have ever seen like these were for my GSXR 1000) and a little bag with all the small parts needed for the swap as well. Well I installed them last weekend (I think, I am getting married Saturday so the days are starting to run together ). Well the lines installed just like OEM, took about an hour, I do have a lift so maybe a little longer for some. Took it out for a test drive and Holy Cow thats what I was looking for. Much firmer pedal, as the brakes and the fluid start getting hot I dont notice the fade as bad as I did with the stock lines (Maybe the stock lines were swelling because of the POS rubber ford uses).

Anyways I give the SDHQ brake lines an A+, another plus is that the rear lines are 2 inches longer than stock, so I guess you get a little more cushion if you get a little more travel back there, plus they are a whole lot tougher than stock, so that could really be a plus if they happen to get caught on something.

I do apologize I only got some pics before I installed them, no installed yet. I am sure I can get some installed pics but it will have to wait till I get back from Tahiti

I echo your feelings on the brake line upgrade, it was kinda second fiddle to the other stuff i got done at the time but i notice the improvement every time i drive. WELL worth it.

I dealt with a local brake line manufacturer on some custom lines before and they were just like these as far as appearance goes. So if they are the same thing, these things are probably rated, (every line itself) up to 3000psi and the opaque vinyl type coating over them can be ordered in about 5 different colors I'm guessing. Clear, black, red, blue and maybe yellow I think it was. Be interesting if these options are avail for the SDHQ lines.

Sounds like a great mod :D FFS

Thanks for the great write up! We have them listed up on our site now http://www.superduty-hq.com/fordraptorstainlesskevlarbraidedbrakelines.aspx

And a little more info on our lines. The kit for the Raptor is a 6 piece kit. They are a direct bolt up replacement for your stock lines. The rear lines are 2" longer than stock, we had them built like this for those of you who are also running Deaver springs. For those who have stock suspension these will work just fine also! Our lines are more than just your "standard braided line" ie. Goodrich. They utilizing a Kevlar braided sheath over extruded Teflon tubing, which is protected with stainless steel outer sleeve. They are certified by and independent testing lab, and meeting D.O.T. FMVSS-106 specifications, each line is individually pressure tested and approved!

Install is straight forward and we hope to have install instructions and pictures up on our site shortly!
