BMW's V10 also had next to nothing for torque.


U're missing the point. Nobody said it was a better engine. Exactly the opposite actually. Trying to make decent power from small engines in an N/A platform comes at an expense and it's typically fuel mileage. Especially if you want it to make some torque down low.

Bottom line is Cadillac gave owners a twin turbo v6 in its vsport but when it came time to give an old man a real car they provided the market w/ a real car. Hell, even in wagon form for years. The new CTS-V comes w/ more balls under the hood than 95% of this forum's trucks have and we're are all modded - and way more than the new Raptor that's 2 years away.

If any FORD engineer is reading this. You and your team should be ashamed of yourselves for delivering a bad ass truck that screams "I AM MAN!" w/ less gumption than Cadillac is providing in its sedans.

All I hear is bailout for GM, government owns GM blahblah - then I hear you guys saying blame Obama and the EPA standards for us not getting a badass V8 in the Raptor. Well truth be told - something doesn't add up. If Obama and the EPA ran GM - how come GM is giving them the middle finger over and over again and giving cars real powerplants that belong in a truck such as the Raptor. Shame on you ford for throwing up the white flag and giving in.

I love my raptor - yes it's supercharged and it sounds like it looks (badass). I actually think the new Raptor looks better and more aggressive from the front. Sadly it's all looks w/ a bitch-made v6 under the hood. I may still get one and mod away, but seriously Ford??

Had to bring BMW into the mix....

BMW's NA motors have never been known for torque. More for high revs and hp per litter.

As I posted earlier the ongoing cost to maintain a direct injected turbo motor is more than some people will realize. Oil blow by, fouled valves, and turbo break down means long term the cost to keep the vehicle will be way more than a NA motor. Most people probably don't care as they keep the car for a while then sell it.

Being a long time member of BMW forums I know first hand the long term issues with direct inject TT motors and BMW. Had to buy a walnut blaster because ever 45-50K you need to clean the intake out of oil blow by.

The above of course is BMW world so not sure how other brands are but I know Audi and VW have the same issues as BMW for keeping things working.

Every German direct injected motor I've seen, all have the same carbon issues.

Ford could easily provide the same 6.2L displacement as in the gen 1 Raptors w/ better heads and direct injection - and surpass the 450 hp mark and get much better mpg (especially w/ the 10speed transmission and the truck being lighter) - but they have clearly missed the mark. I guess that would have hurt the rest of the "ecoboost" line in the other F150's.

Ford was said to have a direct injected 6.2 for the upcoming 2017 Superduty. Only a rumor at this point still though.

HAHA issue is there is no fuel cleaning off the valves in the intake side. That is where the oil get the worst build up. I would like to see our 6.2 motor valves as it seems there is a obvious oil expansion issue and we need catch cans like JTL or other.

Worst part is early BMW Turbos had no catch cans... FAIL

Well said, I agree with you 100%. This trans was developed with GM to bad the engine wasnt to. Put last years cadillac LSA in the new raptor and we'll all be happy!
