DAMN! this thread really blew up lol Honestly if I let things bother me I wouldn't be where I am today. The army alone made me an ******* and to be able to take ******** like no other so I can take all the shit talking. I honestly love it, because then i think, "maybe I am being a little bitch." lol

Let me just give a little background... I lived in an Expensive city and I just moved to a very low income city where they matched my previous year income. Before I was working 90 hours week to live/feed my family but I also worked my ass off so I could move up. As to why this NEW company hired me as a Manager (skipped supervisor).

The most expensive car I have financed is my wife's VW Tiguan at 27k. So to ME a 70k truck is EXPENSIVE. In a LOW INCOME city this truck is EXPENSIVE! The cities average salary is 25-35k yearly. So yes my direct reports make extremely less than I do. Even if they worked 90 hours a week like i did, they prolly still wouldnt make as much as I am.

I am new to the company and previous Manager left my direct reports sour. I have worked 14 hours day 6 days a week right a long side them to show I aint like the previous manager. So there are some of them that just hate management period, but I believe I have already overcome that fear from them.

If i was at my previous job I would not care, because people knew I worked 90 hours and i could literally talk shit right back at whoever would say anything. (Jokingly obviously) But now I am a salary employee and cant (at least not a month in) joke around with these guys yet until I know where I stand as a manager. IF the previous manager wasnt such a ****, I'd prolly feel ok about it. But he was a total ******* and threaten their employment constantly. AS to why he is no longer there.

I just came to the forum to get some background on owning one. Because this is the most expensive thing I have ever owned. I prolly wont buy anything this expensive again, for some of you that's every 3-5 norm, so good for you.

Thanks for the laughs and ******* remarks, now I feel welcomed!

I have a strong inclination that jealousy isn't the issue here but that OP has his raptor perched up on way too high a pedestal. In other words, the potential jealousy and "raptor status" is mostly his over-active imagination at work.

And himself.

I don’t care what anyone drives or what anyone thinks of what I drive- unless it’s just impractical
To the max. If you work in a climate that gets snow 6 months of the year & you drive a V6 mustang convertible w/ an automatic Tranny & all seasons, for instance, you’re an ******* lol

Fellas, the OP sounds like a sharp, hard working guy, and probably just passing on something many people have thought about. The jaded fellas here will say that the Raptor is just a truck. We all know it's not "just a truck." A lot of people like the raptor, many have never seen one up close and think they are super expensive. True or not, that is the perceived reality.
A smart business person will definitely take into account every thing that may be a reflection on himself. If you say you don't, you're an idiot or are being disingenuous.
Both my parents owned successful retail medical businesses, neither of them would drive anything expensive because they did not like the perception that it may give off. If the customer thinks they are overpaying for the same product they can get cheaper down the road, they will go down the road. I fully agree with that.
In my field, I find it is better to drive an nicer vehicle than the next guy, my customers want someone that appears to be successful at what they do. It inspires confidence in my professional services, I don't retail any product. As such, they are happy to pay a little extra for the best.

So then you can buy the first round!

The OP has made some very thoughtful replies and I appreciate his honesty, even without pics of his truck... ;)

I am curious where you live in Texas, as I know several cities I would not consider low income.

So I moved from Austin, TX to El Paso, TX.

Also I just googled the average yearly income and its 42k which isnt so bad but still the cost of living here is cheap and I know what my direct reports make and its not even the average.

Here are the pics of the truck!

It must suck to care what other people think all the time.

This whole thread is a troll. He’s only posted 9 times, all in this thread. 9 posts about what other people may think about him.

Get over yourself dude.

Dear lord I can’t wait for the schools to reopen so these kids have something else to do.
