For less than $20, why risk it? I bought the McGard right after I got my Gen 2. Offers good peace of mind. Holding up well with a mix of street and Borrego Springs outings. Don't tempt fate. Some may feel it is redundant, but I am happy I bought one.

The McGuard lock is substandard in quality/durability and mine eventually rattled itself apart, hence the $20 entry point.

I recommend the Jimmy Jammer Gatekeeper which is more robust and will not corrode and suffer from lock seizure/failure.

Look for yourself and you'll ditch this glorified hose clamp for a more robust countermeasure.

interesting - not sure how it will corrode... but will check out the gatekeeper too!

also, did a simple 'how to' - it's dumb simple - like 5 minutes, but this is my first pickup and probably first for others as well...

They don't seem to have any models for the 2015+ F150s yet, unfortunately...

Send them an email, I bet it's in pre production if they're smart.

The McGuard is better than nothing, mine held up for 18 months (but blinded up and did some minor damage to the area around the tailgate pivot when I opened the gate) you should also be prepared for paint damage in the local area, if that's a concern for you.

I have a hard locking tonneau cover and I always lock my truck when walking away. IF by some chance a thief takes my tailgate, I'll just get a replacement- this time with the applique and with the tailgate step- neither of which my truck came with, but I would have ordered them if I ordered the truck originally.
