I’m seeing DTC codes in the Camera Rear Module, Trailer Module, and Rear Gate Trunk Module….
you might get away with clearing them and retrying.

I’d make note of them first - like pictures of the DTC’s because stealership service departments are notoriously finicky about helping sometimes.

The DTC say internal electronic failure and open circuit. The Rear Gate/Trunk DTC says that it is likely the rear actuator. I believe that was what one of the earlier posts had mentioned the issue was as well. So I am hesitant to make any changes or reset the modules. I screenshotted the codes though. I was planning on resetting the couple modules that I made changes in Forscan back to stock before I head to the dealership. It feels like there is likely a short circuit somewhere in the back harness that has caused the issue, I'm hoping they replace that along with my exhaust rattle....

Once the module fails, there isnt a way to open the gate. I went though all that. The dealer has to replace the module. You cant fix it. It's a 3-4 hour job for them once they have the part. Just let them fix it. I get you want it open, I did too. It's not worth the aggravation. Deal with it and move on.

Manual only tailgate for the win.

How much option money does that add to the truck again? C’mon Ford, stop being stupid.

Yep, I agree, I tried what I could to avoid the trip, but if it’s a bad actuator or module it’s on them, I’ll be dealing with it this week…

Had this happen on my 2018 (not power up/down) after washing out the bed and leaving the tailgate down for hours. I guess water accumulated in the tailgate and corroded the latch release actuator. I removed inner access panel of the tailgate, removed actuator, cleaned and lubricated, re-installed and haven't had an issue with it since (2 years ago).

In my bed, there’s a 400watt inverter in the rear driver side of the bed, where is the access panel located? If you had pictures that might help

Do you have a LineX or Rhino liner? My LineX was sprayed on super thick and the tailgate wouldn’t close without me forcing it, then it didn’t want to come back down. I had to trim some of the bedliner where it was contacting.
