GEN 2 Tailgate Step Unlatching Itself

My 2020 with a tailgate step has been recently unlatching itself from its storage place. This predominantly occurs when I press the tailgate drop button on the FOB. The tailgate slowly descends down to open and the step becomes unlatched.

I’ve yet to find it unlatched when the tailgate is closed, but is there anything I can do to keep it secure when lowered? Don’t want it flying out while driving if I have to keep the tailgate down

2015 - 2020 Ford F150 - Tailgate step not wanting to latch - I was getting into my truck bed last night and I went to shut the tailgate step and it took me having to slam it for it to latch. Any idea what can be the issue.?

Mine was doing that but when it was in the closed position. The dealership couldn’t see it for several months so I forgot about it. Then, I put a DiamondBack cover on and it never opens now unless I want it to. Haha
