Not being an ass, but what is the use case for this guys? I just can't imagine why I would want to open the tailgate when I'm sitting in the cab.

Maybe for when my wife is carrying my case beer from the shop and I don't want get up because that section of "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins is about to drop?

Personal preference. Some like it. Some don’t. I rarely use mine, but on the rare occasion I do use it, it is useful. Is it a need? No.
