So I have an untouched 2012. It keeps popping up connected to iPhone and 911 assists enabled. Would this or one of the previous updates stop this from happening? Do I need to do updates in order?

Edit your post and put all the details of what system is in your truck and what iPhone and OS it's running.

Maybe someone with and iPhone and your year will chime in.

Sorry,

2012 raptor
Voice sync nav system
iPhone 6s w/iOS 9.3.2

Let me know if more is needed. It's getting annoying to talk on it.

No need to say sorry.

My Nav system will only start talking and popping up 911 when I manually connect my Android phone,
like when I remote start it and I'm to far away for the phone to automatically connect.
I just hit the Map button to stop it.

Are you saying it does it all the time and often while driving?

You may want to go to the iPhone forum and do some searching.

So what do the updates generally do? Just update the maps and ruin other features? :)

Updating the Maps to the latest version is different, you have to purchase a DVD set.

So far a working Sync update without bugs for our system is still not available.
They rolled out one about 6 months ago but most had issues so Ford remove it.

So Gen 1 ver. 3.1 for Sync with Voice Nav is it for now. And it's the same Sync version from the factory when I bought mine new in Oct. 2010

Generally they add features and/or fix previous screw ups. Seems like most updates are for better Bluetooth compatibility (song/track/artist info) or text messaging improvements (can read you your text messages, very quickly too!). Map updates on 13-14 vehicles are done via a SD card. Older trucks use the DVD.

I need to look into this bc when I play music through Bluetooth, I feel like it takes on the life of a DJ. Songs will slow down, then speed up as if it were trying to catch up.

As a test I disconnected my phone and the truck still searches for a phone every few minutes, saying "no paired phones found" instead of saying ",connected to..." so I assume it's the truck. Any ideas on what to do?

Try this. Delete your phone from Sync and go back and add in your phone. I run into weird issues sometimes with my Android and Apple phone and they seem to fix themselves when I delete and then pair it again. I hope this makes sense.
