Swap Nav unit into non-nav truck?

Hi all! New to FRF, researching Raptors (like I do with every vehicle purchase) and possibly going to replace my 04 Wrangler with a used truck this summer.

I see quite a few '11s and '12s that I like some of which don't have the nav unit (a requirement for me) - if I end up buying a truck without the Nav, how difficult would it be to find a unit, dash and all, from a totaled truck and install it into my truck?

Not against that route either, if it's a clean solution and the price is right. I'd obviously rather just get a nav unit to begin with, but i've seen a couple Raptors with very good miles for <$40k on autotrader without nav.

The stock nav is horrible. Just install an aftermarket nav system.

I have a '13 and I like the nav/climate control/Bluetooth/ radio unit. It's a little quirky like all the car units are, but it's pretty good. Before '13 I'm told they have problems. You won't be using it much if you plan to kit out the truck. Most of your time will be spent listening to the exhaust and giggling.

I've seen some clean installs with this - does the ipad just run through the factory stereo aux input? Would be an option to pick up a 4g mini to throw in there, or just tether my existing wifi ipad to my phone.
