So, this is me thinking about random shit that I can do while on nights at work with no work to do.

Driving in the Focus today, I was thinking -- I really like the MyFordTouch (MFT) system it has. Same size screen. Controls same options.

Can one be swapped for the other? I'm not going to rip both of them out to look at the back, but when you think about it, would Ford really go through so many changes to make a new system? Still has SYNC, Navigation, climate controls, bluetooth, sat radio, etc... Just a different "operating system"...

If I found a MFT system on eBay, does anyone know what the chances are for a swap into the Raptor?

So I can't actually contribute but what is the difference between the 2?

One is more awesome and graphical than the other. It's just the new thing that's going into the Ford vehicles.

2013 Raptor maybe???

I just read an article about how Ford has a major upgrade for MFT planned to hit with the MY13 vehicles.. interface has been simplified and apparently flows a lot better.

No clue since I've not used it but the article made it sound like it was a major improvement.

I am actually (for now) planning on keeping the system as it was designed. Not only do I like the look of it better, I'm technically savvy enough to use the damn thing. They dumbed it down for those that don't get it.

Hate the wifes '11 Edge Sync/Nav. It isn't as functional as the '11 Rap.

How so? I've not sat for hours in the car and just played like I have the Raptor, but the features are the same, the functionality is the same, it does all the same stuff, it just looks better and seems to be better organized.

Subject: EFC00864DC MyFord and MyLincoln Touch October Update BACKGROUND
In July, Technical Service Bulletins 11-7-24 and 11-7-29 were released, which communicated a software update for certain 2011 Ford Edge, Explorer, Lincoln MKX and 2012 Focus vehicles equipped with MyFord and MyLincoln Touch. This software update delivered the latest level of software and improved the performance of certain elements of the MyFord/MyLincoln Touch system. In fact, the gap in service satisfaction with MFT/MLT vs. non-MFT/MLT equipped vehicles has improved by 64% since January, 2011.

I'm going to guess it's not possible for anyone except a Ford/Microsoft engineer with access to the source code. I'm sure they'll migrate the F-150 to MFT at some point, they just did exactly that for the Flex (which had the F-150 Sync Nav system in 2009-2011).

I've never used MFT, I need to play with it. The current F-150 Nav/Infotainment systems' greatest failing is over-reliance on touch and voice in my opinion. These features work great but there are places where it would be extremely desirable to have physical controls (e.g, browsing media folders in an MP3 collection). The thing about MFT that scares me is that it sounds like they're going even farther in that direction.
