Correct. From Merriam-Webster:

" 3) moot (adjective)

1 a: open to question
b: subject to discussion"

When the 2012 Raptors hit the ground we'll have more to discuss. And when FoMoCo wants reduce production costs and build F150 frames from full length blanks, I'll be delighted to decoil a trial order.

Fully lab certified, tight gauge tolerance, 945 YLK 216" +/- .032", finished width +/- .010". No internal stresses, ready for the laser table and hydroforming.

I wonder about you sometimes man. Book smarts are one thing but common sense tends to be the wizard behind the curtain.

MOOT: also "of little or no practical value". Again, the frame is more than strong enough. LET ME TRY AGAIN WITH SMALLER WORDS:

THE FORCES ARE IN THE 100's of TONS. Lab certification, and nice thickness tolerance, and heat treatment will mean fuckall when your axle pancakes your frame from below when you drive like an idiot.

You could make it out of ungodmium, reinforce it with unobtanium, have NASA and SEMA certify the ******* thing, and still **** it all up under the conditions that were in the Raptor run.

Thank God that Ford is managing production costs, I got a sweet ride for $38k, AND despite punishing it severely, have only bent the skidplate. Effing spectacular. You don't like it? SELL IT!

I agree that the Raptor isn't perfect, and it does have some spots that can be improved upon (namely the door stop detents that garrantee door dings). But stop blathering about poor design and cost reduction on something that performs as designed, and serves 99% of costomers just fine (and 100% of those who know their vehicle limits).

With all the safety crash rating stuff and making a "safe" vehicle the frame has to have a crumple zone to absorb any rear end collision. Now as for bending down I read someone describe it as "take a pipe hold one side in your left hand and the other end in your right hand now bring your knee up into it" That's what the front and rear spring hangers are doing. For $40,000 or so you get a truck, a Raptor. For $100,000 to 1,000,000 plus you get a off road race vehicle designed to take the punishment. It's a F-150 with wide fenders, big tires, and some other cool stuff.

A perfect summation of the issue and the facts. Even the million dollar race machines are not indestructable, as everyone who has ever watched the Baja or the Dakar on TV has seen. Most of us couldn't afford such a machine, but let's say that somebody went into serial production with an off-road race-ready supertruck. Would it satisfy EVERYONE? No. There are always whiners. Anybody can be a critic. That's why they always turn up.

I wonder how it played out in the Blue Oval boardroom back in June. Maybe like this:

CEO: Good morning, everyone. Anything new out there?

Marketing Director: There's this floating around. ( image of black truck fills the monitors )

... ( fifteen second of silence as eyes turn toward the SVT Chief ) ...

COO: We're offering a dumptruck option on the Raptor?

SVT Chief: We have a pretty good understanding of what's going on.

Legal Director: Jamal, that's directly over the fuel tank!

*******************

When the 2012 Raptors arrive we'll see if the middle/rear frame connections have been improved. I'd still wager the sleeve connections will be deeper and/or the top will be reinforced to match the bottom of the connections.

When FoMoCo updates the F150 frame, they'll start with full length frame rail blanks. It's common sense.

Hmmm...yeah. How about the shelves on the lift blocks. Think those might get deleted for the 2012 Raptors?

possible but, that would mean rebounding off the axle and a production truck doing I got to say no..... If It were me and I was concerned about this I would try to find out what they are doing on the Raptor XT... I got to believe that the XT could take that kicker and not bend the frame... I still have a few contacts available in SVT.. I will se if I can research it... Well , the XT has a 4 link rear suspension... there goes that idea... lol
