Hey Guys,
I have about 6k miles on the Raptor now and only 1 off-road trip but I decided to check the air filter last night and holy crap it was dirty. My last car was a mazdaspeed 3 and even at 20k miles it wasn't as dirty as the Raptor filter is.

For the first 1500 miles or so I was getting 15 on the freeway then I did the off-road trip and it been slowly dropping to about 13 on the freeway which is why I decided to look at the filter.

I replaced it with a drop-in K&N but wanted to post this as a heads up to people.

Anyone else experienced a super dirty stock filter with so few miles?

You should be cleaning your filter after every offroad run....the filters get very dirty. Shouldn't compare to the Mazda.....as I'm sure it never went offroad.

All that dirt in your filter was probably from that one offroad trip. That's all it takes :)

I install a throw away filter and replace it after every off-road event. For on street driving I use the k&n drop in.

GREAT LAKES RAPTOR EXCURSIONS

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing in the future after I saw that thing. I have never seen a filter get so dirty so fast.

New air filter installed in early March and two months later with a couple of off-road trips and 6000 miles this filter is looking really dirty! I guess this is normal with these trucks after reading this thread.

Looks like I will be keeping filters in stock...

Is there any sort of sock that you could put over the stock intake tube to limit the dirt that goes in? Or would it be to restrictive?
