I wonder how many of the positions will be converted to automated processes over the next 5-10 years. Enjoy that raise while you can.

Probably a lot, however those jobs are usually transferred to higher paying wages to engineer, build, and maintain the robots and AI. In terms of economic dollars the cost is probably moot, however in terms of job creation it’s probably lost by half. Unfortunate.

How can anyone not see that this added cost to Ford will only be passed on to the consumer?

We all see it. What would you have us do about it? Ford can only raise prices so much before customers switch to non union brands. Union contracts typically prevent automation(loss of union jobs) or moving work elsewhere, so the only real option is to cut cost. That's why so many people associate union made products with low quality and high price. I say this with two union brother family members. They both agree.

Union contracts typically prevent this. And it's arguably the biggest problem with unions - they prevent modernization.

In other countries that is…..no executive is going to take a pay cut.

Looks like my 2012 will be the last truck I buy...... Assuming I can still get gas!

Should note, I can buy A LOT of gas for what a trade would cost right now. And, I have a pre-R V8!!
