I build engines and I cant do any of that. That's what i pay mechanics for.I work in IT for a Fortune 6 company and I've done plenty of oil changes and replaced the fluid in my front and rear differentials. Being a "software guy" is no excuse! Do yourself a favor and order a service manual online. If you can read, then you can pretty easily do most of what the dealer does and likely better because you won't be in a hurry. Replacing a filter is not big deal at all. Now, a leaky drainplug would be a bit more of a challenge if it was anything other than just being loose.
It'll be a major benefit for the longevity of your truck if you can do your own maintanence. At minimum you'd at least be able to tell if they did crappy work and immediately call them out on it. Service isn't what it used to be.
I just shake my ass on the side of the road if I need help.
