Searched for this but nothing came up.

Happened a few times now- when I start the truck up the triple chime that repeats a few times (normally through the stereo speakers) instead plays through a small archaic-sounding tiny little chime unit near the steering column instead. Also strange, the blinker unit flashes slower while driving after a startup like this.

Next time in truck the chimes play upon startup as normal through the stereo, and blinker acts normal as well.

Anyone have a clue what this means?

I think I've experienced something similar in my '20 Lariat F150. What year is your truck? Can you try taking off your seatbelt when you notice the blinker and startup chime sounds weird? It should be very obvious that the chime is wonky.

It will just start doing the seatbelt reminder chime if you're driving. That chime is the biggest difference between the "right" and "wrong" chime in my opinion.

If yours is a '19 and mines a '20 of a different model, it may be normal, I just found it odd when I first noticed it.

Mine does this when the battery voltage is low. I know because if I let the truck sit for a couple of days in hot temps, my fridge will drain the battery until it shuts itself off. At that point, the battery is lower than the truck likes and my guess is it doesn't power up as many systems in order to save power on startup.

This has happened to me a couple times. It seems to occur most commonly when using the audio system by pushing the power button with the ignition turned off. On the next key cycle, the audio comes through the Instrument cluster speaker instead of the audio system.

The IPC is the chime arbitrator, so it decides whether the chime will go through the audio system or the internal speaker. It is only supposed to play through the cluster if there is a loss of communication with the ACM or the ACM has DTCs stored, so it appears that this issue is a software glitch.

It happens if you start the truck before all of the modules are booted up. It’s normal. If the ACM isn’t fully booted it will play the sound through the IPC.
