You can revalve, but only affects the bump zone, but the by-pass is still in th same spot

So if I understand correctly would it be possible to be at mid-perch and get a softer ride closer to bottom perch or is that just not possible without being able to move the bypass?

For the past week I have been reading threads and taking notes. Maybe it wasn't here but I saw something along the lines that the stock Fox shocks need a rebuild around 1,000 with heavy off road use, 10,000 for normal off-road use and 50,000 for street use. Is that correct?

My current '06 Titan has Icon shocks from PRG with 40,000 miles of mixed use (mixed use for a Titan and what it is capable of doing) and are still going strong.

I don't think I've ever had a bad shock so how do we know with the Fox shocks when they need to be rebuilt?

On my last Raptor, when I would stop with firm braking, I would get a thud or a knock when the back of the truck came up. Apparently that one was completely blown and providing zero dampening.

I would imagine you could also see oil , although mine wasn't obvious like you would think.

I just had the 2011 done because the mileage was over 80k.

Considering how inexpensive it is to have them done, just doing it before they need it is an option.

Did you send them to Fox? The reason I ask is I don't consider it cheap to ship them to Fox and have them rebuilt. I'm trying to find a local shop but living in the Midwest, and even worse Iowa, there aren't all the off road shops many have available. Plus the idea of being without my truck for a few weeks is a drag too. Hoping I can find a local shop as rebuilding is the only option I have. Can't justify $4k to $5k on new shocks.

I had a local shop do it. Foddrill Motorsports. So without shipping it's pretty inexpensive, around 75.00 per shock if I remember right.

Even if you include shipping it is still inexpensive when you consider new off road shocks, whether the stock Fox or aftermarket.

You can spend 50.00 to 150.00 dollars on standard shock absorbers , monroe magnum , Koni , bilstein etc. So being able to rebuild these is relatively inexpensive.

I agree, $500 to have the fronts and rears rebuilt by sending them to Fox, isn't that bad at all. I'm hoping I can find someone within a decent driving distance that can rebuild them. I hate the idea of being without the truck for a few weeks and shipping is going to be pricey too I imagine.

It was on here under the Fox vendor section that they stated those rebuild intervals. I think it's a bit aggressive.

I would think 50,000 miles with off-roading and some hard off-roading would be a better rebuild interval.

How many miles are you currently at?

I have yet to get it. It is being shipped from UT and I should have it Saturday. It only has 12,000 miles that were driven by a little old lady on Sunday to church and local food pantry.

What they failed to mention was the road the little old lady drove every Sunday.

There are many ways to free up shocks, some are doing the springs, others 3.0's, progessive/position sensitive and for low speed you can make/open the free bleed hole in the pistons. There is no silver bullets!!!!
