When you put the key in the ignition, your steering wheel moves back out to the programmed spot. On my truck, there is some significant grinding. Any one else have this issue? Just seeing if any one has encountered this problem and has some advice before i start ripping off plastic... I have searched the forum with no luck of finding some one with the similar problem.

here, on frf
you drive in dusty, dirty or sandy conditions? i have seen this happen in other vehicles, but have not heard of anyone in a raptor. debris can get into the motor and cause it. unless you are actually hearing grinding gears, then that would be something different

It is funny you mention this...mine started making a rubbing noise of late when I turn the wheel...not so much a grinding noise but as if something inside the steering column his resting against the steering mechanism...

Do you have a clip of the noise?

The sound is more of a significant vibration as to a grinding. It sounds like it is in a bind. Maybe it is just dust, i may blow it out and try to get lucky.

That happened to my 2013 and the steering wheel also stopped going in and out anymore even though it was still set to easy entry. I just took the plastic shroud around the steering column off(it just easily unsnaps) and used a can of air and blew it out and it started working fine again with no noise. Hope this helps.

Hi, folks!

If the DIY approach doesn't work out, you can always bring this to the attention of your dealerships. Either way, please keep us posted on your results. :)
