I just picked up my new 2021 Leadfoot Gray 801a Raptor. At factory they apparently left off the black cover as pictured. I am unable to adjust dampeners or steering assist and cannot change driving modes because of steering assist fault. They tell me it is due to the lack of that black cover…? They say there are sensors and a camera up there that aid in the assist and there is a glare causing the fault. I guess we will find out Monday when the part arrives. Question I have is this: Has anyone else ran into the same issue but was not missing the cover piece?

Welcome! :D Dang - I'd be ticked. How does that stuff get passed quality control? This ain't a Chrysler. The location of that CLEARLY proves that was just ignored and handed off as, "Not my truck, not my problem." I'm sorry about that :(

We’ll, as I suspected, got black cover installed and it didn’t help. They are ordering a new power steering module. They also need to reprogram parameters for power inverter under back seat as it is loud!

As for why I left with the truck without the plastic piece… They refused to take the piece off of my 2021 trade in and it only took 3 days to get the part in. Also I got the truck at MSRP and figured they’d sell it to someone else if I pissed them off. Lastly, my salesperson was awesome (Amber Dash at Bill Fick Ford in Huntsville, TX)… she is the whole reason I got the truck at all. When I bought my 2021 F150 king ranch I mentioned to her that I wanted a raptor and that she could call me if they happened to get one in. She did just that: she was the only salesperson to notice on stock sheet that, at the end of 2021, Ford allocated two Raptor’s to the dealership…ones that nobody had ordered. She called me and one other guy who wanted one and offered them to us, and we both bought them. I’ve seen a lot of people mentioning it helps to foster relationships with small town dealerships and this is another example of that paying off.

Welcome to the place and congrats on your Gen 3 Raptor. The loud inverter noise in the rear is a known issue and was fixed with a software update. Hope you get the truck in working order asap. 100% agree with getting along with a good dealer, goes a long way when a warranty issue can come up at the cut off time especially.
