Hi all,

First off, I'd like to say that I'm very exciting to be getting my first Raptor in a few weeks, and equally excited about being a part of this community. Great info here!

That said, I have my first question. I work for a boat dealership in Orlando, and am buying this truck to use for towing. I will not be towing boats every day, but sometimes 2-3 times a week. Our units range in weight from 1,000 lbs for a Sea Doo with trailer, to 6,500 lbs for a runabout with trailer. I currently own a 2005 Hummer SUT on 40's, and it's a little to tall for some our units. So, should I be upgrading my rear springs? And what is the best set-up if I go the "mid-perch" route?

Thank you,

Charles

Thanks for the reply. I like that you made a set with towing in mind. Do these lift the rear at all? Truthfully, I'd rather not lift the rear much. Also, are your springs suited for stock and upgraded shocks?

They lift it a little, but like any spring they'll settle down with time. But, like WSI said, they're intended to hold extra weight.

They also work with either stock or aftermarket shocks. But, they do delete the suspension block where the jounce bumper hits. I got these from SDHQ just to be safe. Rear Raptor Bump Stop Mounts

Here's a picture of mine on mid perch with WSI springs and an empty bed:

Unfortunately, your not going to really gain better towing capabilities and offroading abilities without lifting the rear somewhat. you would need to sacrifice offroading ability if you didn't want to lift the rear some, in that you would need someone to make you a super stiff spring without much arch in it. Bags would be your only option really.

These springs are suited very well for either stock or upgraded shocks.

So, is it safe to assume that the stock springs are not up to par for towing? That's what I gather by reading that the appropriate springs will lift the truck a bit.

And do you have these in stock? If not, how long to manufacture?

I currently have two sets in stock, but typically its only a 3 week turn around. I wouldn't say the stockers aren't good for towing a jet ski once in awhile, but constant towing ( weight in the rear of the truck) will create the S -bend a lot of us have seen. I am always tpwing, or have the WSI race rack in the rear, and my stock rear Leafs were absolutely shot after about 1 year.

So another way to do it would be to get the springs for better towing and get a hitch that is dropped to account for the extra height of the vehicle.

I still have stock leafs, and compared to the WSI leafs even empty, the WSI leafs are much better. Even though they are stiffer, they offer a dramatically more controlled ride, take dips and cracks in the road much better and still feel just as smooth as stock.
