Here is a side shot of Deaver +3 without drop shackle. Not as ass-high as I would have thought. Especially since this was fresh off the floor jack. Not settled yet

O yeah. Needless to say they just passed the buck back to Rpg. Now I have to get ahold of Jarrett and see what he ordered from national. Since national has no record of my order

Just got off the phone with a rep from national.

It appears we have all been mislead (according to their story)

National HD springs sit at stock ride height (per the national guy) they have only made one HD +3 and that was in the past two months.

So Yukon and I according to their records never got +3. Just National HD's.


Basically they passed the buck back to RPG saying the sag was normal.

They also changed the given installment specs to have full weight on the truck when torquing the mounting bolts, Unlike the supplied instructions from RPG to not have at full droop, but not have full weight on the springs.

I give them credit for calling me directly, but this doesnt solve any issues.

i was told i installed them incorrectly and the bushing is whats holding up my spring. Hard to believe that after 6 months all of a sudden the bushing is frozen.

He furthered explained that the HD springs have very little to no arch. When they were delivered they had a massive arch, to the point where it was a pain to get them to line up with the shackle. Now they are flat.

He also commented that Standard springs are only +1. So it appears what we ordered through RPG is not what RPG ordered through national and what we requested was not processed accordingly.

Thanks for the info Huck. So I guess what you're saying is that when you torque with droop in the rear, you're getting a false sense of where the springs are supposed to ride (+2). My conclusion from what you wrote is that my springs now are probably sitting where they were designed to ride at (0 or +1) and it's taken time for them to settle at that height since they were torqued with the rear drooping. This would make more sense to me than my leafs sagging to almost flat in 10K miles of driving.

So I need to find some springs with more arch like WSI's SD's or even HD's. I wonder if his are supposed to be torqued with weight of truck on the ground? I want either a +2 or +3 height in the rear with a plush ride when empty.

National said hd's don't lift. They are stock height. Even torquing them incorrectly wouldn't lead to these issues

The springs should be torqued with the vehicle weight resting on the rear end. Any suspension component with bushings should be torqued like that because your vehicle spends most of the time at its static ride height. Torque'ing the spring in full droop or full compression will preload the bushing once the vehicle weight is applied which will cause the bushing to apply a rotational force that will slightly alter ride height. It will also prematurely wear out the bushings. I think either way, done correct or not, installation didnt alter the fact the springs sag so much so quick.

Measured both trucks before heading to the hospital really quick.

Glre-001- HD WSI springs with 2" drop and two spares and the new rack. 26" to the middle.

Heathers- WSI SD springs with 1.5" drop shackle with no weight in bed. 26" as well

Its a bushing, if it was slightly off when torqued, the first time the 6k pound truck hit a speed bump or the end of a drive way it would rotate into position.

I know that a month ago, my springs were flexible, and it had a comfortable ride. Now, the rear end is frozen, no movement. I jacked up the truck by the hitch mount and there was no droop in the rear axel, it stayed in its location. upon looking under neath the shackle is rotated aft (2 o'clock position on drives side looking inboard) so when it lifted the spring had no where to go. When it was installed, it was at the 10 o'clock position. So thats how much it sacked out.

My previous post was not a personal stab at a certain individual to remain nameless cause we all know who it is.

I had sent my concerns to RPG this week. It was forwarded to National, and national passed the buck back to RPG as its their fault, or my own fault. I have no doubts that RPG ordered springs the way we all wanted them. From my long conversation, i get the impression that national is just trying to send me in circles. My issue now is this is my second set of springs from national, one SD one HD, and both have failed in the first 10k miles. I don't live in the desert, and run my truck every day, its a daily commuter on paved roads. This failure rate is unacceptable. Now it leaves with the question to how to pursue it, being as that there are 3 parties involved, its not going to turn out peachy, the blame will just go in circles.


I should also note that i love when people try to talk to me like i shovel shit for a living.. (not that theres anything wrong with that by any means) but when you try to argue moments of inertia and material properties to an engineer they are not going to get anywhere. I was told as a spring sacked it would get softer... Um no, when you have a multi stack leaf, when it sacks out you get full contact for all members, cannot bend a spring the oppsite way not in tension.

If you guys would stop picking up fat chicks and hauling them around, you wouldn't have these problems.
