Just checking to see if this is normal. I got black spline drive lug nuts and noticed they're a little more narrow than the oem lug nuts. They have the same cone seat angle but less meaty than the oem's. Will this be safe? I've attached pictures of them on the wheel and how they compare side by side to the oem lug nuts.

Alot of members on here have the same lugs, including me. I have had these on around 3 months with no issues. I do have aftermarket wheels, method race wheel "mesh"

Im sure a member on here with this same combination can give you a better answer

I changed over to the spline just shortly after picking up the truck. I also found a black wheel lock that I put on as well. I've got close to 2k mileage now and no problems. These were offered by my parts department but I found I could get them cheaper. I installed them my self using a air wrench and saw/felt no problems.

I've been using Gorilla Spline-Loc lugs on my Summer wheel/tire set up for the last 4 years...repeated removal/reinstall/re-torquing...zero issues. The black anodizing finish has chipped off a bit.

The oem lug really just has that hideous skirt at the top of the cone to fill the hole on the wheel, it's only the coned part that holds the rim. If you had any aftermarket wheel you would need a different lug nut.

If you're not comfortable with it the gorilla nuts are much beefier. Basically a bigger all around nut without the decorative skirt

big blue had one sieze up and crack off. I believe he had to have it cut off and the stud replaced as well.

I love mine beside the fact that on every one, the black coating wore off where it contacts the socket and is now rusted.
