Have you seen heavy knock occur and the knock sensor report none detected? i share his exact same symptoms with a cobb tune on a 2018 and 2020 using premium 93. same noise same rpm range. IDS monitors and cobb handheld show no knock detected.

What PIDs are you monitoring in IDS to determine knock?

If it was tuned, will the ECM or PCM have a timestamp of when it was tuned? If a Ford Dealer sold it to you like that, and you can prove via timestamp, then I'd think it's on them, I would hope so anyway.

Not that the dealer would be able to see on IDS. The PCM would need to be analyzed by engineering to determine that information.

Knock count total , knock count per cyl 1-6. Ks retard , ks advance. KOM multiplier

all help to provide good insight to knock.

a savy tech CAN Figure out if a tune is currently loaded, most tuners don’t retain the stock file name and vin data will show proper as built bin file for the trucks vin , most tunes are not even close to loaded file name.

And FYI 2019-2020 North American owners there is a new PCM update as of April 2020 seems to give a cleaner idle and more top end power. Either have a dealer update or a friend with a current working IDS update you.

if you are tuned this update does not apply .stock only

I may take you up on that drive to Indiana. Even if I bought it from a Ford dealer. You still think they void me ?

It’s possible but you just bought it , and it’s used , you can ask them to reflash the PCM because you suspect it had a tune or it’s acting funky.
See what they say , get this documented in email ASAP before more time goes on. A PCM and TCM update won’t hurt go get it done from the dealer.

ask what file name it was on before and after

Per the PC/ED, the only PID that will accurately reflect knock counts is KNK_CNTR_CYLx (MODE). Is that one that you've monitored?

Very true; a mismatch in file names is a dead giveaway.

Have not heard of this...I will have to investigate for sure, good info.

Yeah I’m just referring to it by the friendly name l that’s the per cylinder counter , there is a combined total counter also.

I posted a pic of the new 2020 rom filename. If you need the rom I can send you it also.
