I saw the pics from an auto show in another thread where the underside of the SCREW was show, It looks like the spare tire is on a matching aluminum wheel. Is the production spare just like the other 4 wheels? I know the spare tire is the same BFG. Just thought the spare was on a steel wheel.

The only way I am changing a tire is if the plug kit and pump won't get me to a tire shop. Had NEVER pulled the spare on my 2004 FX4 in 7 years. Lucky I guess? Plugged a many a tire though.

Its a full size spare but the wheel is painted a different color then the rest. Its black not charcoal gray like the rest. Auto manufactures are required to paint it a different color (if) due to the fact it doesn't have a tire pressure sensor. Ford racing performance parts shows the wheel if you look at the "black" Raptor wheel on their on-line catalog.

Great answer, Pirate. I knew mine was black, but I didn't know about the law requiring automakers to paint it a different color since it lacks TPMS. This is the first thread I've opened today and I've already learned something. Thanks!

Well the friend with the 2010 claims he had a tire sensor warning but never could find the bad tire. Took it in and the dealer said it was the spare. Hummmm? HAhahaaaaaa.

So the spare wheel IS like the rest sept for the color and its aluminum. Rattle can time at tire swap. HAhaaaaaaaa.

None of the Raptor spares had/have tire sensors. The spare wheel is the exact same just different color. Material is the same.

Anyone want to swap there spares? I like the Black ones

I'd eventually like to get a spare that matches my aftermarket wheels/tires, so I don't really care too much about the one I already have either way.

If you wanna pay the shipping costs, I'll trade you my black spare for one of your grey rims and you can keep the TPMS.
:hmm:

or 2 more for the time being....

my spare + your spare = 2
+2 more and you're there with a stock grey rim as your spare that you can trade later.....

Just sayin'.

Keep me posted, if you find more trade partners, lemme know and I'll be glad to hook a brotha up with my blacky.
