Some Newbie Questions

The quality oil of your choice just changes it often. I have 2020 and just did my first change at 1150 miles, first oil change is really important. I sent the oil into Blackstone for analysis yesterday and will post the results. I will not let oil changes go beyond 5000 miles, I live in the high desert so pretty harsh environment. Oil is cheaper than repairs by far., these trucks only take 6 quarts.

Search for forscan to make the programming changes to the truck. I changed the horn honk when you get out of the vehicle with the keys, that was so annoying. And made it so I can use navigation while driving. The Lincon style folding mirrors are cool but consider your environment. Some users commented that the mirrors would freeze in the closed position overnight. We can get wet snow followed by a hard freeze in the same night so I skipped those. Learned to use the mirror fold button. Congrats enjoy the truck!

Its an APIM setting you can change with Forscan. There are few youtube videos, and it is on the APIM tab of the spreadsheet on the Forscan website. It is not one of the more common changes.

Oh ok thanks I’ve made a bunch of other changes didn’t see that one will have to look more closely
The one change I tried to make along with the Lincoln mirrors was the auto tilt mirrors in reverse could not for the life of me get that feature to work (maybe it’s not compatible with the Lincoln mirrors)

I heard this one is not straight forward. After programming there was another procedure involved with aiming them. I believe the truck has to be stopped also. Search it on the forum and it should come up.

OK thanks everyone for such quick responses. I went away for a vacation over the holidays so I just got back a few days ago.

To sum it up, we will take a look at FORScan but the vehicle is in the north east so freezing mirrors much like leaving windshield wipers on sounds like a possible issue. Some of the other features could be nice that it can do but my father may know a tech at a ford dealer so maybe their scan tool can make some adjustments proper even if he had to pay a few $$.

Air tire PSI at about 36 right now. Full synthetic switch coming up on the first oil change.

Last question, is he is looking for a rolling bed cover. He says he saw one at Ford and the part number is the following:

4GL3Z84501A42BA

but every time I search for that part number I don't get anything.

Good looking truck! Can’t be a Prius. This eats more gas.

I was looking at getting a Retrax rolling cover myself. Looked very nice and you can get them powered or manual roll. These are probably the more pricey options. Check them out. In the end I just went a little more simple. I got a Lomax. It was nicely priced, flips open easy and comes off the truck altogether really fast if you need the space. It only weighs about 50 lbs or so. Super flush too.
