Word on the f150gen14 forums is that they push out over cellular. Same way your ford pass works. If you get a low battery warnings, chances are the install attempt has occured
I have a 21 & received 3.5.4 a couple of days ago. The truck has been hooked up to my home wifi for some time. I also do not have a cellular plan for the truck.

Now getting Android Auto full screen w/ AA ver. 8.7.630224 on a Samsung Note 20.

Is it possible for Ford to push these updates via cellular without a cellular plan or update via your phones data plan?

All trucks are connected to cellular and don’t need a plan (that’s how Ford pass works). Since OTA has been rolled out, all updates have come through ATT cellular - even if you are connected to WiFi it still comes through cellular. I’m guessing Ford has further development to be able to push by WiFi (hopefully soon), they are having enough issues as is with the OTA program so I’m sure not complicating things helps.

I concur. Spitballing here but I'm just trying to connect the dots. Ford Pass is the app that communicates to your truck. The app is on your phone. Your phone has a cellular connection...see where I'm going with this. lol

Well to be specific:

-Ford Pass App on your phone communicates with Ford’s servers (your phone can be on WiFi or cellular)
-Ford’s servers communicate with the truck through its modem connected to At&t cellular

In short yeah it’s always connected. Ford is nice enough to not charge for the cellular connection so I can see someone taking my truck to Starbucks miles away and remote start, unlock from anywhere on Ford Pass. Using the truck as a hotspot is another story.

Will be SOL in the future when that band is obsolete, like all the Onstar vehicles / 3g cars last year.

Is this update for Pixel phones only? I’m a Galaxy dude…or the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude. Anywho, back to the original question…
Google finally enabled Coolwalk on my Pixel. Got full screen now for both phones. I guess they realized how cool I was and enabled it stat. Full screen Maps with traffic is very nice.
