SO I love my rubber OEM bed mat, and the F1 cover, but after hauling a few items the past couple days, I hate dragging stuff across the tailgate. What do you have to protect it? I know the bed rug comes with a tailgate rug, but do they make a rubber tailgate mat that matches the OEM mat? And if so, do you really need to drill holes and screw it in place?

Looking for options!

If you can find a piece of rubber to match (how much was the mat you bought? maybe you can buy one and cut it to fit) you could use HD Velcro (hook and loop). Even if you can glue the velcro to the rubber mat you could pop rivet it on to the rubber and glue it on to the tailgate. Otherwise maybe you can buy a tailgate cover from Bedrug :)

Paid just undr $100 for the OEM F150 rubber mat... and yea I will do more research as I am sure there has to be some sort of rubber mat for the tailgate that does not require drilling!

I don't think so but then again, I'm not a rubber bed mat kinda guy. It sure holds stuff in place well but the sides of the bed and wheel wells are unprotected. They're more vulnerable than the tailgate which has a liner on it from the factory (at least mine did with the stripper pole).

If your tailgate has that liner on it then I think that would match the rubber bed mat nicely.

you could call a place that installs bedrugs/shells/covers and see if they have any plastic bed liners they removed from an F150?? Or call a company that makes them and tell them you just need the cover for the tailgate.

don't know that it makes much sense, but you could Line X just the tailgate or get some of those cheapo do-it-yourself bedliner spray-on stuff and just do the tailgate....
:idk:

I will answer the last few posts.... NO my tailgate does not have any factory liner on it, I think only if you get the step up and stripper pole does it include that liner, I have neither. I looked at the truck specialties tailgate mat, I would like to stay away from drilling holes to attach it... and as for the last post, the LINE X, now that is a great idea! I have the rubber mat as I do not need to really protect the sides or wheel wells as someone stated, as i do not haul stuff like that, but adding just a rubber coating using LINE X or something in the DIY line, is indeed a great idea. I may as well wait until I do scratch it up some, then install the stuff... but great idea!!! Thanks guys!
