I mean... I don’t want to get off on a rant here, but you guys are living large. Try living where you can’t swing a stick without hitting a prius. Between that, and all the high density housing, and overrepresentation of people with licenses only because they really can’t be legally denied them even though they don’t speak a word of English and lots of other bad contributions, and you’ve got a recipe for streets snarled with wannabe hypermilers enforcing their version of road discipline to the consternation of everyone else out there.

I used to have HOV lanes available when I was biking to work. For those of you in Free America, HOV lanes are state mandated 2 or more occupant per vehicle lanes - ... unless you’ve got say a “hybrid” or electric vehicle, or you’re a <insert long list of privileged peeps> or on a motorcycle. I only had a short stretch available but it got me around several choke points. Except on those days I’d merge in behind a line of priussies. If you don’t pass them right away, they fall back to pace the vehicle beside them. Of course, you dare not try to move past them at only a few mph or they’ll floor it to keep you behind them. Nope, you pass the prius with prejudice, or you pay the price in delay. I don’t like to ride like an alpha hotel, but the plain facts on the ground are that the local prius driver population are rude, inconsiderate, selfish, poorly skilled in the art of driving, and exhibit behaviors of a self appoint traffic flow tyrant.

once I had to pass 7 - yes, 7 --perfectly staggered, flying in formation 10mph below the speed limit priussies. None of them would slow, speed or move over so... ok, I passed them with prejudice to their fist shaking consternation.

Now that I no longer need that route and can more easily avoid prius drama, life is so much better. I know not all prius drivers are the arch-typical one, but the overwhelming majority of the ones I’ve met say “Oh, I’m not --that kind-- of prius driver”. Statistically however, if all the prius drivers who assert they aren’t that guy aren’t in fact, that guy, then the numbers don’t add up.

Is “Priussies” a word? When I first read it, I saw “*******”... just sayin.

yep...had that conversation with my wife regarding left lane campers in general. If you are going to be forced to pass them on the right....you have to hit it hard, because the self righteous will speed up to try an teach you a lesson.

I am a big fan of the draft....get 3 car lengths between you and them...then hammer it.....move right at the last second.......by the time you are even with them, you have a 10-15 mph advantage...they can't make it up.

Then when i get in front of them, i clean my windscreen for 10 seconds....3 or 4 times.....usually just after they finish wiping off the last blast :)

get you prius out of the passing lane and into the right lane at 60mph where you belong so you can save your precious MPG.

Prius:
Slow to go: Oh no! the battery level is dropping, don't let the engine start and use gas!
Long to stop: Ahhh! battery level coming back up

Thinking of running for California Governor and make it law that Prius' have to drive on the shoulder with flashers ON.

The only reason I would want a big aftermarket front bumper on my truck is to gently "bump" ANY idiot out of the left lane if they're blocking the (my) flow of traffic. As it is, in the truck I'll give them a several seconds to acknowledge I'm there and if no response I'll literally fill their rear window with Raptor grill. I've yet to hit them with the BD light setup because that would be "illegal" and affect their vision. The problem is that the Raptor is so big that you're kinda stuck until someone gives way. That's why I also like my bike(s). In a left-laner or any-laner situation, a quick blip of the throttle, a tweak on the bars to thread the needle and they all disappear into my small fisheye mirrors.

We have the same problem here with subaru drivers and prius drivers.. Think they own the left lane. 10 miles under the speed limit. Don't need to signal. Ever get stuck behind a prius or a suba on an on-ramp when the speed limit is 65 or even 80? Pretty tuff to merge into 75 mph or higher traffic stuck behind a prius doing 53 mph. I drive all around the valley every day for work and could document that the vast majority of moron traffic issues I see are caused by those two brand drivers. It's not just me. All my work peers joke and roll eyes about the same thing. Have always speculated that it appears to be a mindset type of personality thing with drivers of these cars.

I don't like it when the self righteous prius drivers then want to try and drive on the highway like they are not the gas mileage princess they are. get you prius out of the passing lane and into the right lane at 60mph where you belong so you can save your precious MPG.

Left lane hogs are either from illinois, or driving a prius......dont get me started on prius with Illinois plates......makes my head boil. had one this christmas doing the speedlimit in the left lane....hogging up traffic and waved at me every time i flashed to get her to move over. she refused....always stayed in the left lane....when it was finally safe to pass her on the right, a line of 10 of us gave her the finger as we drove by..........she never moved from the left lane.

I'm always impressed by how furious these people get when I *very politely* pass them and gradually reduce speed to 5-10mph less than what they were traveling. According to them, 60MPH in the fast lane of a 65MPH road is awesomely great but 55MPH is absolutely unacceptable. Again...this should be done extremely politely, with turn signals and very gradual reduction of speed, obeying all laws less "slower traffic keep right". And let yourself get a little distant from them before rolling out of the throttle.

For the bumper, I saw an old Blazer when I was younger with a large wood beam, the driver said it was a railroad track support beam. it was quite large, and conveyed a very stern look that is unfortunately lacking on the Raptor.

It isn't the Prius, they "can" go fast enough, and be driven aggressively, it is the idiots that buy that type of vehicle. For the most part people who buy Prius, Beetles, and Suburus are not "car" people, and therefor are not usually good drivers. I do wish the police would enforce getting slow drivers out of the left lane. (another-words, get the he** out of mt way).

Impeding the flow of traffic is illegal, as is blocking the passing lane. Two wrongs don’t make a right, but a little payback sucks.

Well, I guess I'll be "that guy" and call it as I see it. Irrespective of the type of car, those left lane blockers tend mostly to be women. They think every lane is the same, has the same traffic rules, etc. My GF is a shining example of this. She gets in that left lane and won't move because, she says, she feels "safer" there. Camry in the slow lane? Usually a woman. VW in the slow lane? Usually a woman. Prius in the slow lane? Chances are: woman.

OK you can ban my misogynistic ass now.
