Hey all. Haven't checked in a bit, and unfortunately a guy on the shoulder and me trying to make a right turn resulted in this...

There is a great shop near me that will take care of the paint for me. Luckily there are no creases in the metal on my doors at all, just some shallow denting. But as you can see the step/slide is obviously done. I got under the truck and can see that the mounts are bent about 10 degrees off axis from the interior body panel they are attached to. Is the new step never going to be the same as a result?

Those doors look like junk!! I would get them replaced, the metal is so thin on new vehicles, there will be too much bondo in there. As far as the brackets go, they need to be replaced and then a new running board will fit like new bro!!

You'll need new mounts too. Are the mounts themselves bent, or where they attach to the truck. That'll make a big difference on how much work will be involved for the step to look proper.

Sucks about your truck...all I can say is have it fixed by a reputable shop and do not skimp on cost...I do agree the doors do not look good...I would go with new ones as well...I am would bet additional problems with those doors would appear in the future...

Good luck...

The doors look way worse than they actually are. Most of that is salt and his paint. No creases in the metal at all, just some shallow depressions in the sheet metal. They should work out easy. It's a really good shop I have used for years. No bondo. I'm not too worried about that stuff. The mounts are bent and I am sure the mounting sites are bent as well at least a little bit just by looking at it. Should I just pull them off both sides? Anyone make legit sliders?

I saw KHC had some that looked good too...can't speak to the mount or durability just the look...

Bummer. I have an extended cab, or I'd be all over those.

Every one of the models of replacement sliders seem to mount up to the same mounting sites as the OEM steps. Am I incorrect in thinking I want something that comes off the frame to prevent body damage?
