Show off your RC Raptor's!

Picked up two New Bright 1:10 Raptor RC trucks this weekend for $17 each. I bought them specifically to use the body shells on a hobby grade chassis. They are SCABs, and I have a SCREW, but oh well.

The body shells are very detailed, they have an actual Raptor grill as opposed to a sticker. It came with terrible neon green stickers all over the body, but they all peel off cleanly. Oddly enough, the stickers said "FX4 offroad", but the tailgate has the Raptor logo on it. Apparently it's the ultra rare FX4 Off Road Raptor edition...

The bodies also have headlight buckets, which I've already removed, pulled the lens, and blacked out the inside. A 5mm LED in an aluminum holder should look almost dead on the OEM projector setup. I plan to do LED lights to match the OEM Raptor setup. It'll take a lot of LEDs though- 7 ambers + 2 white up front, and 9 reds in the rear. Technically it's 9 ambers up front, but I don't think I have room to do the the running light in the headlamp.

The tail lights are just a red lens, so I'll have to cut the body behind them and make my own light buckets.

I'll get some pics up once I make some more progress.

Thread revival...

Took advantage of the great weather and hooned my Raptor (Traxxas) around the construction zone that is my neighborhood. This is my first legit R/C (the cheap crap I had as a child don't count):

I know there some other threads about RC’s because I posted in them, but this was the top one during my search so far and looks like it died back in 2017! Point is I bought another one, not really sure what my total is for Raptor RC’s is at this point but I’m sure it’s over 20 by now.

I swore that HPI bit the dust a few years back. I remember in like 2016ish (maybe a bit later) and trying to get parts for one of my old HPI trucks and they said HPI was dead ever since Traxxas went on the war path.

They did, but in 2019 a Scandinavian company brought back HPI Racing so we will see how it goes. This is my first HPI (I think) and so far it’s not that impressive compared to my Traxxas or Axial ones. Let’s face it, I only bought it because it was a Raptor. As if I needed another RC

Hmm, that's news to me! Thanks for the update.

I was a big Traxxas fan back in the late 90s when they released banger after banger (I had an original E-maxx because my parents didn't want me to have a nitro powered T-maxx). That'd the only Traxxas I had though. Went to a hobby shop recently and they were like 70%+ of Traxxas. Seems like they've become the bad guy of the industry.

The “bad crash” was a result from all those voodoo’s? Lol
