We received 12" of snow in Alabama. It's always nice to get snow down here because everyone else stays in and I get to take the Raptor, atv and sled out to have a little fun.

Do you take your top light bar off for cooling on the street? And when you say sled.. Not snowmobile right!? I know it sounds silly but I have to ask as that's what we call them up north mainly because we're too lazy to say snowmobile every time lol.

The other bar, and, the one before that had a few issues. I'll PM you. But, the other one is good again and I'm throwing it back on probably today.

Nope, unfortunately I have a sled not snowmobile. I miss living up in Minnesota. I was never old enough while there to drive one but I rode on one with dad a few times. Always wanted one since.

There was never really any issue with cooling either. There are a few gaps around my set up that allow air to flow. I haven't had any cooling issues so far.

The bed rack is custom, I designed it and had a local guy fab it for me. It is attached to the truck via four of the bed bolts. The tent is a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized.

More pics can be found in this thread: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f11/bed-rail-rack-build-34807/ but if you have any more specific questions just let me know.

here, on frf
Son is at University of Hawaii.

I have a Raptor.

Son wants the Raptor.

I want to live in Hawaii.

Just got to figure out all the angles here.

father?

Doing something right?! Perhaps, more likely just falling on my ass into a good situation!

I do have a few gripes, but because its Hawaii, I'm sure those complaints would fall on deaf ears.

son?

That is SERIOUSLY cool. I love the design. I can't wait to do some overlanding stuff.

Thanks guys. There are some other things that I wanted to do that would have made it look a little cooler IMO but the goal was to keep the top of the closed tent more or less level with the cab of the truck so that everything would fit in the garage still and wouldn't make the mileage a whole lot worse. Still working on adding some small solar panels to keep the battery topped up and fridge running on days that we're not driving a lot but overall it works really well and we love the set up.

My early drawings for the tent setup is similar. Keep it below the level of the cab, keep it high enough to store the ARB cooler and the other gear underneath. I want to either fab some mounts or get some of those roll cage clamp mounts for hi lift jack and traction mats, just in case.

I had solar panels (and a dual battery setup) on my Land Rover and it was really great system, not a single dead battery. I originally slept in the back of it, but I added a CVT tent to it later on. It raised the center of gravity, a lot and thats why I like how yours is so low.

I still kind of miss it. The Raptor is making it easier, but man it was awesome.
