Should I buy an extended warranty?

I most likely will. I carried one on the mustang when I found out the cooling evaporator cores were leaking and costing $2500 to repair. 7 years for 36k was $560 and when I sold it, my prorated check in the mail was for $430. $11 a month was worth the “no worry factor”.

The Raptor will be roughly $1000 for 60k miles. Have you priced the 802a electronics?

I did the extended warranty with 7/100K, ultimate coverage with $50 deductible for $2K. We have several trips a year planned with the truck and over the years have noted that most breakage occurs after 36 months so extending the warranty is peace of mind for me. I may trade it for another newer one beforehand but get a warranty prorated refund if so happy enough to add it for the price and peace.

I did the 7/150k for 2500 bucks and a vanishing deductible. If I do the repairs at the dealer I bought it from no deductible, otherwise 100 bucks.

Small price to pay for peace of mind on a 65k toy.

Are you allowed any modifications with these warranties? A lot of times, a simple air intake will void non OEM warranties.

If it’s the original warranty, Ford must prove your mod caused the failure. Not sure with the extended.

Extended Warranties are available on many consumer items... cars, homes, electronics, refrigerators, furniture etc. Usually you are a warranty person or your not. It’s a game of risk analysis... similar to insurance.

In my mind, I can’t see paying a certain $2500 for the warranty to hedge the possibility of paying that much or more in repairs. If I had an issue or two (after the standard warranty period... which has various lengths of coverage beyond 3/36 for different components, I would move on from the vehicle.

As you can tell... I’m not a warranty guy.

Well said and I feel the same about extended warranties. If an extended warranty makes you sleep better at night then go for it.

Agree. I’ve never purchased an extended warranty on any other item and would not purchase one for the Raptor that is over $1000. I drive my personal vehicle very little as all my miles are on a company truck. The low mileage 7/8 year are pretty affordable in comparison to one repair.

The extended warranty is a "gotta have" on this truck if you want to keep it. Knowing what I know now, I should have bought it from the start. Or, I guess I will just trade it for the 20 5.2sc. That should revive my faith in Ford.

Why would you buy the warranty when you don't even own a Raptor?

(And if you even did own one, you could have bought the warranty at any time afterwards.)

I plan on driving the truck 6-8 years and approx 125k miles so I bought the appropriate warranty. If I end up selling in 3 it (the remaining warranty) will help with resale.
