Shifter lights?

I bought my 2018 late December and I remember finding it odd that the shifter indicator lights were not on. I called my buddy and he said Ford did away with that and also with the changing of the ambient light settings which I thought was cool on my 15 Lariat. Oh well

Thats the Ford Beancounters taking out what they can get away with to make more profit.

anyone know how to add that light? What do you have to remove and how do you do it? The light part is pretty cheap, thought I might do it.

I took my truck in for it and they just replaced it with the console that does light up...

So I ordered the little led light to install in my console. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong and looking in the wrong place but it looks to me like they eliminated the provision (vacant plug) for this light in 2020. at least my 2020 (built in nov 2019) does not have one easily noticeable. Lettering is translucent but I don’t see an open plug near the shifter. Just thought I’d report in case someone was considering this.

Glad I’m not the only 2020 with no plug. It is gone. I tapped into the wires going to the cup holder lights. Don’t remember colors but used the 2 outside wires on the plug. Used a test light to find power and ground. I cut, soldered and put heat shrink on mine. Here are a few pics. Only complaint is my P is not as bright the rest of them.

cool. Kinda lame they cut that out in a 70k vehicle. Those should be lit and indicate which position you have it in. I keep throwing it in manual on accident. Kinda miss the L pattern in my Toyota that prevented shifting into manual on accident.
