Agreed, it is all about the individual techs. I still have not found a local Ford Service that is trustworthy or competent. It's a shame that we pay for warranties and Ford just wrings their hands and takes our $.

What I will do is change the end links myself, take pictures and email them to my local service manager-the one that said my skid plate was causing the rattle .

While I understand the frustration, doing the work yourself doesn't hurt the dealer at all, you're just risking a voided warranty if your work can be blamed for any other repair on the vehicle. Just show them the pic and explain the issue to them, and hold them to their end of the warranty. Or pick a different dealership if you want.

Any chance swaybar endlinks are covered under warranty (either factory, or an ESP plan)? I've had some clunking in the front end of my truck also which I've been unable to diagnose. Here is a picture of what one of mine looks like, but they both look pretty similar. How do I tell if they're bad?
I believe they are covered by warranty. You can get OEM for $150 a pair or even less if you go to local (cheap) auto parts store and they are easy to replace in your driveway.
Yours definitely looks shot based on the amount of grease thrown up the link arm. The way to check is take a long bar (breaker bar in my case) and wedge it between the frame and the top of your sway bar. Push the bar up and down, it should make the link (lower link in my case and your case) move and thud/clunk.

Thanks for the info...I need to take my truck in to have the cam phaser rattle recall work done at some point, so I'll have them look at the endlinks at the same time.

Understood. The problem is making time for the service. The two closest dealers only keep the QuickLube techs on the weekend and they only do basic service. Id have to take time off from work to get an open slot with an experienced tech during the week. Its my daily driver so I need to get this done quickly to maintain my sanity.

Im hoping that since Ill be replacing with OEM and Ford has no record of the links being the problem, they will never know they were replaced...

Hopefully you mean the service advisor's boss. 99% of service advisors are worthless pieces of sh it. They spend their time blowing smoke up customers behinds and selling them unneeded services on commission. They'll tell any lie they can to avoid the relatively unprofitable(to them) warranty service. FMC doesn't seem to care. I got free oil changes when my local dealer stomped all over his(and my) ****. But I won't even go in for that. It's too scary wondering what they'll manage to mess up.
AMEN!
