Nothing sounds better than a 6.2 litre with long tube headers and dual exhaust wide open in the desert. While I love their eco build, its not for me.

This really isn't a comparison of a stock Raptor and a stock EcoBoost Raptor, but rather a EcoBoost Raptor that is built similarly to the other Raptors that leave our shop.

You can take a 55k Raptor and spend 25k in aftermarket to get it to where this one is or you can take a 45k F150 and spend 35k in aftermarket & oem to get it where this one is. The end result is an aprox 80k build all in (truck, aftermarket, tax...)

Less weight too - and it's less weight in the engine compartment. :waytogo:

149 pounds lighter for the ecoboost, but that figure doesn't include intercooler, or any other plumbing.
So a little lighter, but nothing serious. Most guys could make up the difference by laying off the cheeseburgers, lol !

I'd be alot more excited about a direct injected, boosted 5.0 in a raptor. That, I'd buy.

I hate to say it since I'm a v8 fan, but I would take a eco-boost Raptor though it would difinitely need to be tuned!

I got the chance to drive RPG Eco-Boost, sans exhaust while testing their F-150 conversion UCA c/o, Raptor BFG 35" and normal Raptor rear shocks, leafs, frame support. We hit it pretty hard out in Barstow, tore up the fender liners a bit. Gotta tell you it was a hoot to drive. Only 2WD but most of the time never need 4WD anyway. Motor was a pure joy to listen to, high reving, nimble shifting, and with the exhaust gone loud enough to tell what gear you were in, lol.

Now this was a stock Ecoboost, no CAI, no Tune, plenty of power. Not built out like the SDHQ ride - very impressive btw.

I would have selected the Eco if had been available, I am very impressed with the motor and the testing Ford did with it. Tweak it with a tune and CAI and upgrade the exhaust, I think it would kick the 6.2 ass.

In regards to building the Raptor from a stock Eco, I wonder about all the goodies left behind, the beefier drive train/rear axle, Down hill Desent, the upfitter switches, Off Road Mode, They mentioned the locking rear diff that can be engaged in any mode on a true Raptor. I wonder if the SDHQ got the Torsen front Diff?

I see a lot of advantages to building one up this way. I must have $20,000 of slightly used Raptor parts in my warehouse from upgraded aftermarket.

Either way, Raptors rule, however you get there. :pepper: :pepper: :pepper:

I love the truck don't get me wrong, but I think Ford ran the numbers and deemed it not worth doing, my guess is a lot of guys would be like cool idea, love the idea, but very few would actually fork over the cash and pick a eco V6 over a 6.2L (from a strictly stock to stock comparison). I really don't know as much about the internals of that little v6, but maybe SDHQ can chime in, is the bottom end capable of holding a significant up in boost over stock? Forged crank and rods, etc?
