Paying off early will not negatively affect your credit score.

Paying off a debt early won’t help credit scores

While paying the loan off early may save her some interest fees, it is better for her credit history to leave it open until she has been approved for other credit accounts. Open and active accounts are scored more highly than closed accounts because they demonstrate that you are managing credit well now and not just in the past.

it wont send your credit score spiraling, but for someone trying to build credit, its not advised, and in a way, does hurt you a little. for someone with established credit, its not a big deal. If someone had to ask about it, i assumed they were trying to build credit, to which its better to finish your payments then to pay it all off.

Which is why when I finance my new sled I won't be paying it off early. Probably go 3-4 year term to keep payments fairly low, let credit build up so it's easier to get a good rate when I get a truck.

That's the plan anyway....
