GEN 2 Running wrong ohm temporarily

I have 2 13jltw5v2-2 subs in an enclosure wired parallel which drops the total ohm to 1ohm.

I am waiting on my 1 ohm stable jl rd 1500 amp but it’s gonna be a while. Could I run my current alpine pdx-v9 amp listed at 2 ohms and 500watts rms temporarily at low volumes without causing damage.

Had whole install planned for today when delivery came found out amp was on backorder.

Also if my rd 1500 takes too long was thinking of going with jl hd 1200 but it says 1.5ohm.Would that be close enough?

Wanting to stay with jl if possible.

Impedance is really about resistance. The amp will work with 1 ohm but heat will be its enemy because of the decreased impedance. Just don’t push it too hard or it will go into protect mode.

you wont "hurt" it. Like said above...it will run hot and kick in the protection sooner.

i would do the opposite....re wire it to be a series 4 ohm load. you can run that all day long at what ever volume you want as long as you are not clipping the woofer.

Was gonna wire them in series like what you suggested but I read this on JL site said do not do it at all cost was the wording. That is what led me to the post.

Yes, with single voice coil drivers (SVC) you wouldn’t want to wire them in series. But the tw5 is a dual voice coil driver (DVC)

This is the wiring diagram for woofers with dual 2 ohm voice coils. This will give you a 2 ohm load. The voice coils of each individual speakers are wired in series. This gives each speaker an 4 ohm impedance. Wiring them in parallel will present the amp with a 2 ohm load.

Does a dual coil have two sets of connections? This has only one set of connections.
